Yesterday was a tough day as we sadly said a final goodbye to our dear Rosie.
We discovered just over a year ago that her kidneys weren’t functioning as they should have been and did what we could to help her have a happy and healthy(ish) life knowing that she probably wouldn’t live to a normal old age of a Rottweiler. Rosie seemed to cope well with the adjustments to her diet and we managed to keep her condition stable.
Fast forward a year and due to a bought of further illness we finally gained full confirmation that she had congenital kidney failure, which basically meant that her kidneys had never formed as they should have and that’s why she presented with kidney failure. The vets at were amazing and supportive in helping us gain a full diagnosis on Rosie’s condition and helped us understand what to expect from there on.
Sadly they were spot on with their prediction of how much time she potentially had left, and although we lived in hope that we might get longer with her, yesterday it was time to let her rest. She had had enough and wasn’t living the life of what you would expect and want for a 4yr old Rottie.

I’m slowly coming to terms with having let her go and have been overwhelmed and comforted greatly by the support I have received from family and friends.

RIP my beautiful angel Rosie. 🤍🪽You were simply the best!

Fab start to the day with Emily from Haigh Hounds. Looking forward to putting all her training tips into practice with Bailey!

Big thanks to Marie from Walks4Paws for joining Bailey and his mum on his training session this morning! He’s a lucky lad having people helping him through this extremely tricky stage!

Understanding Your Adolescent Dog's Reactivity

Is your once well-behaved pup suddenly barking at everything, lunging on walks, or ignoring your cues? You're not alone! Just like teenagers, dogs go through an adolescent phase (usually around 6-18 months), and with it can come reactivity and behavioral challenges. 😬

🌟 Why Does This Happen? As your dog grows, they experience new emotions and increased sensitivity to their environment. Their confidence is developing, but so is their tendency to test boundaries!

🎯 What Can You Do?

Stay Consistent: Keep practicing those training basics.
Positive Reinforcement: Reward calm behavior, even in small moments.
Manage Triggers: Gradually expose your dog to triggers in a controlled way, building up their tolerance.
Remember, this phase won’t last forever! With patience, consistency, and the right guidance, your dog will come through adolescence calmer and more confident.

🐕 Need help navigating this phase? Reach out for a personalized training plan to guide you and your dog through adolescence successfully!

This girl is 4yrs old today and I’m a little emotional as we weren’t sure if she’d make it to today. We recently had confirmation that Rosie sadly has congenital kidney failure and her kidneys aren’t how they should be, sadly she won’t live to a fruitful old age however I’m just glad she’s still with us now!
🎉🥳🎂🎁🎊🎈
So the BIGGEST OF HAPPY BIRTHDAYS TO OUR Rosie! Rose, Dozy, Dozer, Rosemary - she’s goes by a few names! 🤣

Ok so it’s about time I introduced myself properly.

Hi, I’m Marie, mum of two beautiful girls and I’m 39(nearly 40 🙈) years old and earlier this year I decided to take a step into the world of dog walking and home boarding.
As a lifelong dog lover, I’ve always dreamed of turning my passion into a career. Growing up with dogs as part of my family, I have fond memories of my childhood, spending time in the garden, on walks and even holidays with our family dogs. Now, I’m excited to share that love with the community as a professional dog walker and home boarder.

Throughout most of my adult life, I have owned dogs. My husband and I currently have two dogs, Rosie the Rottweiler and Toffee the Fox Red Labrador who we enjoy taking on beach walks or forest adventures. Having dogs as part of our family has lead to me develop a genuine interest in the world of dogs and I’m always keen to understand them more. So much so, that friends and family often come to me for their dog-related questions. I’m starting to think I’m that “crazy dog lady!” 🤪

A conversation earlier this year sparked the idea of starting my little dog-walking business and it literally felt like a no-brainer! I couldn’t quite believe I hadn’t thought of doing it sooner, and how amazing would it be to do something I love and gain experience working with a variety of breeds, which would broaden my knowledge of the dog world even more.

So here I am! Loving life one dog at a time! 🐶😍

As we approach autumn, leaves will start to fall and along with it can be a fair few acorns. 🍂

Did you know that acorns (and the entire Oak tree) is poisonous to dogs?
Here's the signs and symptoms of acorn poisoning in dogs. Be sure to save this post for later and share to raise awareness! 🐶

Happy ! 🐾

Owning a dog comes with so much joy, but it also comes with responsibility. From providing proper nutrition and regular vet visits to ensuring they get plenty of exercise, love, and training, being a responsible dog owner is all about giving our pups the best life possible. 🐕💖

Let’s celebrate by committing to their well-being every day—because they give us their all, we should do the same.
