Meet Luna!😍

Luna is an extremely affectionate young lady looking for a home to call her own. 🥰 She is looking for people who will be home for most of the day to give her all the attention she truly deserves, as she isn't used to being left for long periods of time.

Luna can be a little underconfident at times and because of this, we are looking for a home without young children or any other pets. She will need owners that are understanding that she may take time to build bonds. 💕

She is also undergoing behavioural training around other dogs, so would be best suited to a rural location with a low dog population. 🐾

If you think you could offer Luna a home, please click on the link below and fill in a home finder form today!

💚 H U L K 💚

Hulk arrived as part of a large welfare group last December, most of his friends have now found homes, but not Hulk :(

He loves attention and will suit someone wanting to work one to one with a rescue pony.

Hulk enjoys living out but doesn't mind being part stabled with friends. He will make a great companion pony to others :)

Could you offer Hulk a forever home 👉 https://www.bluecross.org.uk/pet/hulk-3138466

During a treatment I will often do fascia release, but what is fascia?
Fascia is an incredibly thin sheet of tissue covering, protecting🥽 and surrounding each and every structure in the body🐕, therefore it holds everything together allowing for functional movement🐎!

🕸 Cobweb fascia = internal organs

🍯 honeycomb fascia = blood vessels, bones, nerves, and muscles

🎀Ribbon fascia = under the skin.

These many layers hold fluid allowing for smooth movement. If fascia dries out, gets stuck or injured🤕… it can’t glide so easily. With fascia containing 6 times more pain nerve receptors than anywhere else this can be incredibly uncomfortable!
If this isn’t smooth, functional movement of the body can be greatly reduced.

What can releasing fascia do?
⭐️ Improve range of motion.
⭐️ Break down and soften adhesions between tissues.
⭐️ Reduce pain.
⭐️ Improve flexibility.
⭐️ Improve posture. photo from google

A bit of a different patient, one of my little pigs, Clive🐷! When getting up Clive has been a bit stiff and slightly lame on his left hind. However, with the use of heat therapy and frequent massage techniques he’s sprinting about looking for carrots 🥕 !
With these sessions we were able to:
⭐️ Increase blood flow.
⭐️ Stimulate the immune system.
⭐️ Soothe muscular pain.
⭐️ Reduce trigger point formation.
⭐️ Relieve muscular tension and spasms.

Although a pig feels very different to dogs and horses Clive throughly enjoyed it and most of the time snoring 😴 ♥️♥️

A few tips to keep your dogs cool in the warm weather!

🐶🥵 We continue to hear about animals struggling in the heat, particularly dogs walked at the hottest time of day and left in cars - both of which can be fatal. Please protect your pooches by leaving them at home and keeping them cool: https://bit.ly/2UmiEZm

Remember, if you see a dog in distress in a hot car, call 999, as police should be able to attend more quickly and can force entry, but we can't. 🚨📞🚗

🛑The Importance of the Thoracic Sling❗

Part of the subject matter of this months webinar with Celeste Leilani Lazaris.🎓

Here is what she has to say about the subject matter!

"The thoracic sling is just a buzz word".

Whenever I hear🤔 that, it automatically tells me that the human stating it does not understand the functional anatomy and physiology of the horse🐴.

The thoracic sling is the container for so many key structures🔑 that govern the overall health and wellness of our equine partners🐎.

With no clavicle or boney structure🎛 to hold it up, it relies solely on correct musculature development to provide adequate spacing for said important structures to not suffer from impingements and compression. 🥼

🛑On top of that, when the sling is underdeveloped, the stress of holding the body up for riding is then put directly on the neck and low back, which ultimately shoots🪂 down into the hocks and stifles.

It's really the foundation🏚that everything needs to be built on for conventional soundness and lameness prevention.

Joint Health.
Spine Health.
Nerve Health.
Mental Health.

So, is the thoracic sling just a🔣 buzzword?
Or is it something that should be at the forefront of every equestrian's vocabulary and understanding📚?

And… stretchhhhh!

Carrot stretches🥕!!

Active stretches are completed by using muscle contraction that the dog or horse does themselves. These stretches should be carried out when the muscles are warm, preventing injury. As an ideal time to do these is following exercise, I’m sure many dogs and horses won’t say no to a treat!

Carrot stretches can :

⭐️🥕 Increase ROM, stride length and flexibility.

⭐️🥕 Prevent injury.

⭐️🥕 Target muscles involved in the stability of the cervical vertebrae.

⭐️🥕 Strength muscles, ligaments and tendons.

⭐️🥕 Activate the abdominal and back muscles as the animal bends.

⭐️🥕 Stimulate circulation, proprioception and coordination.

This is lovely little Jonny, he’s 32 this year and still looks absolutely amazing🤩 !! He was still jumping and competing well in to his 20s🏇!! He was quite tight and showed some pain in his expaxials, biceps and glutes. After some fascia release, compression and trigger point therapy he showed no pain, and tension was relieved!! This session helped to:
⭐️Reduce muscular tension🧘‍♂️.
⭐️ Improve movement🏃‍♀️.
⭐️Improve circulation and lymphatic drainage.
⭐️ Improve posture🐎.
Can’t wait to see him again soon😻

This is Boris, he has hip dysplasia and arthritis is his hips. Along with regular hydrotherapy sessions, massage treatments help to:
⭐️ Improve his mobility and flexibility.
⭐️ Develop and maintain muscle tone.
⭐️ Relieve stiffness and reduce inflammation.
⭐️ Help strengthen his muscles. Strengthening his glutes, biceps, tensor fasciae latae and the muscles in his back will add extra support to the hips! 🐶
