Meet Jackie 🐶🥰

This lovely girl came to Focus Referrals suffering from corneal ulcers (craters in the surface of the eye) and as a result very uncomfortable eyes. Investigation revealed that she was suffering from Dry Eye (reduced tear production) and Immune Mediated Keratitis (where the body attacks its own cornea by accident). These conditions leave the eyes vulnerable to infection and ulcers.

Jackie's owners have worked very hard with the prescribed eye drops to resolve the ulcers and tackle the underlying conditions with fantastic results! We are keeping an eye on Jackie to ensure her conditions continue to improve and remain under control.👀

What a lovely dog! ☺️

Today, our lovely vet Catarina is talking about some of the instruments that you will see used to examine your pet’s eyes during consultation! These instruments include a slit lamp and a binocular indirect ophthalmoscope. They allow our vets to examine your pet’s eyes in great detail to assist in a diagnosis and treatment plan 👁️🔬

Feel Good Friday! 🐾💙

One of our favourite additions to our kitchen following renovation was our staff pet wall! We love seeing all of our fur babies up on the wall every day, making us all smile 🐶🐈

It was great to welcome colleagues from our veterinary community for the first of our autumn evening CPD events last night. 👏

We were visited by a beautiful litter of Border Collie puppies this morning for eye testing! 👁️

We enjoyed lots of cuddles 💙 Eye testing is a vital way of screening for ocular abnormalities in puppies or adult dogs and can be really important in informing breeding.
