My Story

I'm Amy owner & trainer of "Dog Squad" have been around all breeds of family dogs since I was little. My first "problem" GSD came home in 2005 a 3 year old German Shepherd, which came from a rehoming centre, she wasn't great with other dogs and could be "funny" with people. Working for many years with a well respected ex police dog handler, who taught me a lot on all things GSD, using tr

aditional training methods. Since 2005 I've re-homed 9 adult GSDs from the age of 2 years upwards some with behavioural problems & some just looking for some home comforts. 2 GSD puppies & 1 Labrador. Over these years, each one has given me new challenges to work out and help "them be them" and I have undertaken lots of different training workshops, learning the new "modern" ways combined with having been involved in training clubs & classes both as an owner/trainer & helping other owners through 1-2-1 sessions with all different breeds. My page is new but have been in the training world for some years and I am keen to meet and work with new owners to pass on some of my experiences to help bring out the best in you and your dog.

"Ditch the fireworks and help save a rescue dog"

Its coming up to that crazy stressful time of the year for a lot of dogs where the bangs and lights in the sky terrify them.

We were asked by one supporter what we feed our dogs as they wanted to put the money they would have used to buy fireworks towards food for our kennel dogs.

What a really thoughtful idea so we thought we would share it incase anyone decided this year was the year to stop lighting up the sky and help a dog in need instead.

We are sure Guy Fawkes would approve so here is the link to do so:

http://www.german-shepherd-rescue-scotland.org.uk/shop/products.php?cat=19

We also know food is expensive so if you would like to send something smaller to our kennels dogs here is the link to our Amazon wishlist where you can donate treats and toys too:

Thank you to everyone who donated prizes, bought raffle tickets and came to the show to support the charity.

Amazing amount raised which will be used for helping the dogs in the charities care 🐾💜

The news everyones been waiting on is here!

Our 2024 show total raised was £8500! This is an absolutely fantastic amount and there are many people to thank for helping us along the way.

We were asked at the weekend by some of the stall holders if we would be holding another show this year - the answer to that one is no lol. It takes us 6 months to recover and 6 months to prepare for the next one 🤪

*Thanks firstly goes to the Judges who lets face it have the hardest job of the day! Cathy Gordon, Grace & Brian Thomson & Iain Butt.

*Our Vets on call Heritage vets
*All our volunteers and Friend and family helpers who helped us set up and run the day smoothly on our stalls and rings.
*George Bell our fantastic Compere
*The Hoopers Demo team B.K.9
*John McCue for providing our first aid cover
*All our stall holders
*Nick Esk Valley Dog Training
*Nadia Yellow Dog photography and Riz from PentlandsDog Training for the super Portrait photography
*David from Canis Scotia for our ringside photography
*All our class, ring and show sponsors

And finally thanks to each and everyone of you who came along and supported our event without you all there would be no show. We hope you all had fun.

Lets see your best photo from the day!

Slow Feeding Bowls 🥣 🐾

Have a puppy or dog that inhales their food within seconds?

Slow feeding bowls are great for slowing them down reducing the impact of all the food going in at once.

Not only does it slow them down it, it provides mental stimulation as they are working out how to navigate the pattern of the bowl to the food.

Doesn’t need to be for main feeding times can also be a puzzle/brain game for any age of dog using lots of different foods/treats - yoghurt, vegetables, meat, fish, etc.

If your a business within the Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire area who stock these please feel free to tag in the comments.
