This wee cat was handed in to our Rubislaw Branch yesterday.
it has no microchip but a red and silver collar somebody might recognise.

The cat was found at Ashley Gardens near Brighton place having been seen hanging around an empty house for at least a week.

The cat is now in the care of the SSPCA Drumoak centre Aberdeenshire.

Hopefully family is found soon,

Sadly Found:

A deceased cat was found by one of our staff members this morning at the junction at Milltimber bridge. A tortoiseshell female, unfortunately not chipped.

The cat is currently at our Millburn practice (Millburn cottage, Millburn Street, AB11 6SS).

A very talented doggy is just back from their holidays! ☀️

This was sent in to our Bieldside branch from one of our lovely clients and we'd like to offer them a massive congratulations!!!

Kuri and I are back from our trip to the Netherlands.
It’s been an awesome week. With lovely weather, we experienced top end agility! Amazing partnerships to watch and learn from, top end courses set by international judges, and rings twice the size of our Scottish ones!

To be sure, it was a challenge!
And day one didn’t go as planned! Although, Kuri did his utmost best to compensate for his mum’s errors of judgment!
We then had a second chance where we got placed into the Speedstakes at the end of the week; together with over 70 other competitors.
And this time it all fell into place for us, and we made a clear run with an incredible 8th place! Top Ten in an international! That’s a very proud moment!

We would like to say a big thank you for your continued gold standard care of our boys! (And girls).

Sam was a very brave boy at our Bieldside branch today getting his Flash glucose monitor fitted!

Sam is diabetic, and this allows his family to continuously monitor his glucose from the comfort of home and they can send us in the readings so we can keep track of how he's getting on 🐾

How lucky was our Rubislaw receptionist Denise this morning, she got to have cuddles with this beautiful puppy. Hazel was in for her first injections and health check today. She was an absolute star 🥰🐶🌟

🤩 Mallow (very aptly named by her squishy appearance 💕) was in with us at Kingswells earlier this week for a scale and polish.

🦷 She recovered quickly and although a bit high on life after anaesthetic drugs enjoyed a gentle post op walkie and some TLC from the nurses (showing off that dazzling smile!) 💕

🌟 Routine Scale and polish of teeth can help to prevent gingivitis, bad breath and tooth decay leading to severe dentistry being indicated. This comes with the risk of prolonged anaesthetic times. Ask the vet at your pets annual health check if they would benefit from a scale and polish 💕

EASTER DOGGY DANGERS

With Easter fast approaching we wanted to remind you of some of the potential dangers to our pets!!!

🐣Easter Eggs 🥚 🍫

Easter treats often have chocolate which contains theobromine - a compound toxic to dogs, the darker the chocolate the more theobromine, however any amount and type should be avoided.

🐰Hot Cross Buns 🍪

These buns often contain sultanas and raisins which are toxic to dogs and can lead to organ failure if not treated.

🐣Spring Flowers 🏵️

Daffodils, Tulips, narcissus and bluebells can all make your pet unwell with symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea and irritation in your pet's mouth.

Keep your pets safe this Easter!

If you suspect they've been eating something they shouldn't, give us a call as soon as you are aware. We may ask you to come straight in but don't panic! We just need to make sure as few toxins are absorbed as possible.

Charlie went missing yesterday 16th if February, he went out around 6am and he normally comes back after 40mins or so for his breakfast but he didn’t come back

DO YOU OWN AN XL BULLY DOG???
What’s changing?
The legislation will come into place in 2 stages and is still awaiting approval by parliament:
Stage 1: From 23 February 2024
• Legal to own but must be muzzled and on a lead in a public place, cannot sell, gift or exchange or re-home XL Bully dogs.

Stage 2: From 31 July 2024
• Offence to own without an exemption certificate or having applied for an exemption certificate.
• Existing XL bully owners need to apply and pay for permit by the 31st of July.

What do Owners need to do:
• Start muzzle and lead training as soon as possible!

• Keep up to date with the Scottish Government website as more info on exemption certificates and guidance is released

We want owners to be as prepared as possible for the new guidance as we know how wonderful XL Bully dogs can be. If you have any questions or would like more information, please get in touch with our reception team.
