Would you recognise a case of colic if you saw it?
Did you know, colic is one of the most common causes of death in horses? Colic is a potentially life-threatening disease, so it is important that you contact your vet immediately if your horse is showing any of the following symptoms:
๐ Restless and agitated โ e.g. trying to lie down, repeatedly rolling
๐ Abdominal pain โ e.g. kicking at the belly, pawing at the ground
๐ Eating less or fewer (if any) droppings being passed
๐ Increased heart rate, rapid breathing, abnormal gum colour, or abrasions over the eyes
๐ Tired or lethargic โ e.g., lying down more than usual, dull, and depressed
