Multicoloured 100% synthetic equestrian fibre, can be used as a Solo or Topper.
Can be laid direct onto the substrate or on a minimal sand surface new or old, also an excellent topper on existing surfaces Best used on its own with indoor arenas as no need for water, and also outdoor arenas.
High strength industrial fibre, shredded through 2 different screens to create a dynamic interlocking fibres. Mixing the fibre with sand will help to achieve cushioning to the footing and return energy.

Used as a topper 10 kg per m2 (minimum 3" of existing or new surface)

Gravel arenas - Grub up your surface remove any weeds, lay down 2 inches of sand and then break up the bales of Bounce fibre and spread across the sand at a depth of 2-3 inches. The final levelling and ongoing maintenance can be done with a chain harrow or similar. No need to power harrow.

Due to ongoing haulage and material cost increases Keeway Ecoflax will no longer be available across Ireland -

Replacing Ecoflax is Concord Wheat Straw Pellets - this product has very similar properties and has already been taken on by many of my Ecoflax customers.
In recent independent testing by www.DrDavidMarlin.com it was tested against 11 other bedding types typical to the UK and Irish markets. All tested for Dust, Hygienic quality, absorbency and coverage/spread volume.
Dust content - Concord was 3rd cleanest for dust, fractionally behind Bedmax and Wooburn - Concord pellets are advised to be wetted before use but were tested dry. It is very likely that when wet the dust levels would be even lower than those reported. See attached graph Dust comparison
Hygienic quality- The good news is that all the beddings tested were free of one of the major mould species that cause respiratory disease in horses – Aspergillus species - with all measurements less than 10 cfu/g.
However, there are many other moulds and bacteria (which are a source of endotoxin which is implicated in equine asthma) which can cause or worsen respiratory health and these are an index of how “clean” the bedding is.
Cfu/g refers to colony-forming units per gram of bedding material. See attached Hygienic quality graph that shows how hygienic Concord is.
Absorbency - The most absorbent bedding was Concord, absorbing over 5x its own weight of water. Absorbency may be especially important where only a limited amount of bedding is being used eg on top of rubber matting or in the case of horses that drink excessively. Having dry bedding can be important for foot health in many horses. See absorbency graph attached. The ability to put the waste straight to the field is still there as it bio degrades very quickly and because its straw its all natural. Its packed in 15kg bags which are easier to store and they don't encourage the mice that we found flax did.

IMPORTANT
INFORMATION ABOUT KEEWAY STANDARD ARENA FIBRE -

From the 31st December 2023 the English Environment Agency have removed the ability for any companies to produce this product or similar under the Regulatory position statement (RPS) 248.
( The Keeway Premium arena fibre will still be available after 31st December 2023. )
This regulatory position statement only applies to waste carpet that has been shredded or is in fibre form before it is used, and is from the following sources:
- discarded carpet fibres and carpet offcuts from new carpets manufactured in the UK and the EU that are classed as waste
- treated post-consumer waste carpet with all physical contaminants including, but not limited to metal, carpet grippers and non-carpet based plastics removed.
If you comply with all the requirements in this regulatory position statement (RPS) you can use shredded waste carpet in equestrian surfacing without an environmental permit for a waste operation.

This has implications to the Environment generally;
- Over 250,000t of "waste" carpet will now go to landfill
- Fly tipping will increase
- Non compliant products may be offered on the market that risk contamination to the countries waterways and ground-water.

The price to add fibre to a Sand arena will increase immediately by c.30% from the current Standard price £110/ €155 per bale to 2024 price of £165/ €220 for the Premium Arena Fibre.
