Marvin the Jack Russell was in for a dental procedure. A full mouth examination and dental X-rays showed there were three teeth that needed extraction.
Christmas decorations look very festive but don’t forget that many of them can be a danger to your pets. Some things to pay particular attention to, and keep out of your fur friends’ reach, are baubles, tinsel, chocolate or salt dough decorations, and fairy lights. If you have any concerns or doubts, please call us at Parc Vetcare for advice or assistance.
We work hard and play hard at the Parc 🐶🐾 Boston, taking a moment from his reception duties entertains the lovely Cali 🐶😍🐾
Cardiologist in the Parc today 🐶🐱
We had the pleasure of visiting cardiologist Mark Overend in the practice today to perform a repeat heart check up on the lovely Nell 😍
Including:
-echocardiography - measure heart chamber size and leaks across valves amongst other things
- ECG- looks at the rhythm of the heart
-blood pressure measure
Our vet Helen has a keen interest in cardiology and can undertake basic cardiac scans which she really enjoys 😊
Nell has a condition called mitral valve disease where one of the valves in the left side of the heart is more leaky resulting in a murmur.
Regular scans every 6 months have enabled us to start treatment at the optimal time and “gain” an additional 18 months with treatment before seeing evidence of heart failure.
Interesting fact: 🐶🐱
Measuring something called the sleeping respiratory rate (SRR) can be as helpful as chest x-rays in determining whether there is fluid build up in the lungs in heart failure
Colour flow doppler on Nell 🐶🥰

Today is World Mental Health Day
Mental health is something that we can take for granted until we start to struggle.
Mental ill health can feel differently for each individual but there are ways to help.
Even something as everyday as asking how someone is REALLY feeling today can be a start.
Pets can be a big help by:
- encouraging us to get out in the fresh air for a walk no matter how short
-reminding us to eat 😊 although some can be a bit too keen and frequent at reminding us 😉
- simply sitting and being with us when we don’t have the energy or will to do anything else

How to help?
Sometimes just asking the question how are you feeling today can be a start 😊
Animals can be a great comfort and can give us a routine when we are struggling.
- going for a walk no matter how small can give us a different perspective
- meal times - some pets are very good at reminding us it’s time to eat (some can be a bit too eager on this front)
- simply being with you and sitting when you don’t have the energy to do anything
