Did you know that May is Feline Hypertension month?
High blood pressure in cats, also known as feline hypertension, is a potentially life-threatening condition that occurs in around 1 in 5 cats over 9 years old age.
This disease is treatable with medication, but 82% of senior cats don't receive blood pressure checks. This month we will be educating owners on Hypertension if you are concerned about your pet or would like to know more then please call us on 01737210011. 😺

Antibiotic resistance is a global health issue, and we need your help to keep antibiotics working.
That is why Banstead Village Vets is taking part in the Antibiotic Amnesty 2023 which is returning again for a second year! Throughout November 2023 we are asking pet owners to return any unused or leftover antibiotic medications to us for safe disposal.
Please drop off any unused medications to your practice. You can hand them in to a vet, nurse or the reception team. This medication might be left-over from a recent prescription, antibiotics that you didn’t need or out-of-date medication.
Let’s keep antibiotics working, together!

There's nothing we love more than an adorable kitten. This is Mouse. As you can see, Mouse wanted all the attention when she came to be neutered.

Halloween is creeping nearer! 👻
It can be a scary time for your dog, here is some excellent advice to help you all enjoy the fun 🎃
"The Adaptil Calm Home Diffuser is an excellent solution to help your dog stay calm during stressful situations like fireworks and Halloween🎆 We recommend plugging the diffuser in where your dog spends most of their time at least a week before you expect fireworks to start to give it time to diffuse thoroughly around the home. Watch our video for more information of how to use the Adaptil Calm Home Diffuser.
If you already have an Adaptil Diffuser, remember to check if it needs a refill.

The lovely Daphne was very tolerant of her owner cutting her nails. Note how her owner splays the toes before removing the tip of the nail with the clippers.
If you struggle to clip your own pets nails at home, please book an appointment with one of our nurses who will happily do it for you. We have experience in correct restraint methods as well as an extra helping hand.
Does your pet allow you to clip their nails at home? Getting them used to having their feet touched from an early age is paramount to desensitising them to this. You can always try a nail file or increase pavement walking to shorten dogs nails and use a scratching post for cats with sharp claws.
It is never necessary to persevere with a nail clip if your animal is becoming increasingly stressed. This will just add to their negative experience. Instead, we can work towards building a rapport with us here and give anti anxiety medications in extreme cases.
Call us today on 01737210011 to book a consultation with a nurse or for any other queries🐾

Did you know that lungworm (Angiostrongylus
vasorum) is transmitted by slugs and snails? 🐌
Your dog can become infected by swallowing
one of these critters, or even by accidently
ingesting the slime that they leave behind. This
can happen more easily than you think…often
when your dog is just ‘being a dog’ - rummaging
in the undergrowth, eating grass, playing with
toys left outdoors or drinking from outdoor
water bowls or puddles!
The best way to protect them is with monthly preventatives, that’s why we include monthly
protection against lungworm as part of our
health care plan.
