I adore Golden Retrievers; how about you?

'Jaz', an older commission, is one I still look back on proudly. She was such a gorgeous dog to paint, with those beseeching eyes looking out. 🩷

Her soft pastel portrait was commissioned as a birthday gift from my customer to her uncle, who adored his girl, and rightly so.

Do you have a favourite breed? 😍

‘Fern’

Wow it’s been a while! I hope everyone has had a fantastic start to their 2025 so far!
Here is a close up photo of my recent completed pastel pencil commission of the lovely horse Fern (show name- ‘I’m fine’) that I thought would be nice to share to you all.

I am aware that my social media posts have been less frequent this year but I am always so thankful for all your support.

As I am absolutely loving spending time being a Mum, my studio time is much more precious.

So pleased to say that this portrait is now safely at its forever home. ❤️

This is the final call for 'Sammys' owners to come forward.
'Sammy' has been straying around Salterbeck for a couple of years, getting into fights and making babies everywhere he went 😡
He has previously been returned to his owner having been 'missing' for 2 years. But was soon spotted straying again- with advice for neutering and microchipping ignored.
⛔️It is LAW to microchip your cat.⛔️
He was finally apprehended when he was found injured.
We have fixed his injury, treated him for fleas&worms and had him microchipped. Today he will be undergoing castration, health/blood testing and begin his vaccination course.
He will then finish his vaccination course in 3weeks time, and we will be looking for a forever home for him.
Given his history, we suspect he will want to visit the outdoors, but won't be as bothersome or roam as far as he'll already be 'fixed'. He seems to tolerate other cats if slow introduction is done. We have yet to dogtest him.
He is an affectionate boy to people and ❤️LOVES his food.

**Silent Hooves: A Remembrance for the War Horses**
Silent hooves on the battlefield, lost in time’s gray mist,
Ghostly shapes of courage, in every gallop, every twist.
Eyes wide with loyalty, hearts fierce and true,
They carried soldiers’ burdens, like heroes born anew.

Beneath the roar of cannon fire, in mud and cold and dread,
These valiant steeds, with noble hearts, pressed onward, bravely led.
Through endless fields of suffering, they thundered without pause,
Their only bond a silent vow, their loyalty the cause.

Forgotten in the pages, just shadows in the dust,
Yet still they ride in memory, their duty wrought in trust.
The reins they wore, the saddles borne, no longer weigh them down—
Now free to roam in endless fields, untouched by war’s dark crown.

Today we stand in silence, for warriors lost and gone,
Yet remember too the gallant steeds who helped to carry on.
In solemn thanks we bow our heads, for lives lost in the fight—
Both man and beast, remembered here, in morning’s softest light.

Silent hooves on distant hills, beyond our earthly pain,
We hear their echo softly now, like distant drops of rain.
So let us keep their memory, those souls so brave and strong—
For in the fields of memory, they ride forever on.

'Juno & Tito', is a Bull Mastiff littermate commission I did last year.

Tito, pictured on the left, was 200lbs and just loved people. He sadly passed away in 2022.

His sister Juno was born with glaucoma and required surgery, with her eye replaced with a marble. Her mum said she get by perfectly well though. She also loves people and needs to be in the same room all the time.

This soft pastel portrait was 50x40cm, so the photo gives you a good idea of scale.

Please remember to book before the 12th February 2025 if you would like to take advantage of the 12% discount off any size portrait. Payment plans are available on request.

My Story

Pet and Livestock Services (PaLS) Specializing in House & Pet-Sitting (in Homes, Small-Holdings, Farms) to give owners a break - whether its a night, weekend or a full week away (or longer). I mainly do dog walking during the day, as well as fitting in pet visits - such as feeding cats or letting dogs out in the garden etc.. Other jobs required such as horse work or livestock work I can do early on a morning or /and early on an evening to fit around my regular dog walking jobs. I also do relief milking!

I am a mature (50 something) friendly, competent and reliable person, who has had years of experience working with various animals such as cats, dogs, alpacas, geese, horses, cows, sheep, pigs and chickens - being a farmer's daughter from near Barnard Castle. I worked for ‘Animate Animal Minding’ for two and a half years after I left Harper Adams University in 2012. I decided to set up my own business - ‘Susan E. Wilkinson - Pet and Livestock Services (PaLS)’ in November 2015.

In July 2019 we achieved a 4* Dog Boarding Licence with our ‘Brydale Lodge’ Luxury Dog Boarding Kennel - which can house up to two* dogs from the same family. (*we are hoping to be able to offer ‘Brydale’ for up to three dogs this year (2020) as we have added another ‘bedroom’ area since the Inspector came last time...hence we need to get him back again after the Covid restrictions are lifted.)

I've also worked with various injured wildlife such as hedgehogs, various types of birds inc. swans and birds of prey (whilst on my placement year at Harper Adams University) at RSPCA Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre and Rehoming Cattery (near Nantwich) during 2009 - 2010.
