Thank you for bearing with us, the phone situation is all resolved now.
π It is our 3rd birthday! π
We'd like to invite all our fantastic pet parents to help us spread the word and let people know just how different truly independent vet care can feel by leaving us a google review. π
It's been an extremely busy year, with some major upgrades to our equipment, including a top-of-the-line dental radiograph and a brand new digital X-ray system, and Gabor and the team have more really exciting news to announce soon... π
ππππππ¦π
This is Colin, our tiniest, but probably most handsome patient from this morning.
His owner noticed blood on his wing and body, so we put him under anaesthesia to have a better look.
He had two broken pin feathers (arrows, top right pic), which are the growing feather shafts of new feathers, and if they get damaged there is often quite severe bleeding.
Gabor removed these so called blood feathers (bottom right pic) to prevent further blood loss, and Colin went home as soon as he woke up.
If you can't get your bird to the vets immediately and need a home fix, apply corn flour on the tip of blood feathers to control bleeding until the patient can be seen.

We're proud to announce that Gabor completed his VetGDP Advisor training an we are now an RCVS - Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Approved Veterinary Graduate Development Practice.
Merry Christmas from everyone at Pet Repair Vets ! πππ¦π π
π£ FOUND CANARY π¦
Tonight, just after closing time, an exhausted little canary landed on the railing outside our practice. With the help of some enthusiastic neighbours the little bird was safely caught.
She seems fine and we are keeping her overnight for monitoring. She's eating and drinking well and quite settled.
If anyone is missing this little bird, please get in touch with us.

Benefits:
Competitive salary

π It's our 2nd BIRTHDAY! π
Today is the second anniversary of the opening of Pet Repair Vets. π
We would like to thank every one of you for the continued support and trust, that enabled us to get where we are today.
Most of our clients' humans have found us via word of mouth or chosen us based on our outstanding reviews, and we are grateful for your time and effort to spread the word about our little practice. π
We have come a long way from the humble beginnings of just Gabor and Lauren to a full blown team of 10. πͺ
This last year has seen us introduce stem cell and platelet-rich plasma therapies, and in the years ahead we have our sights set on adding another notch or two to our belt:
β’ Wenda has just started her first Postgraduate course, which is a massive undertaking of continued studies over a 3-year period, resulting in a Certificate in Ophthalmology. π
β’ Not one for a quiet life, Gabor has signed his life away once again, to complete a second Postgraduate course, this time in Surgery, to add orthopaedic procedures to our ever growing list of treatment options. π₯³
π Here's to a great Bank Holiday weekend and many more years to come! π
This cute little fellow, Wilson, came to us for a second opinion last week, due to swelling and colour change to one of his testicles.
During the examination with Gabor, our director, it was found to be a torsion, which is when the testicle twists, thus compromising its blood supply.
This a surgical emergency, therefore he had an operation the same day to resolve the issue.
βοΈ Fun fact: Hamsters have extraorinarily large testicles, growing to about a quarter of their body size.
We are pleased that Wilson is doing great, and not seemingly fazed by the loss of his manhood.

This is Borris, an African spurred tortoise and our biggest baby patient, who was brought in with a respiratory issue. He's only 8 years old, but already weighs over 10 kg. π
These are the largest species of mainland tortoises, and the third largest in the world (only beaten by the Galapagos tortoise and the Aldabra giant tortoise), with an adult weight of around 100 kg and a life span of approximately 75 years.

Meet Bonnie, who was in with us today for her stem cell implantation: Following the successful harvest of some of her fat tissue 2 weeks ago, we received her stem cell culture from the lab yesterday. Today she had these cells delivered via an epidural injection and injections into both of her hip joints under general anaesthesia. π
The whole team is rooting for her for a speedy recovery and hopefully will be back playing with her furry friends in no time. π π π
βοΈ Despite the adverse weather conditions, we are still hoping to be open as normal for our clients and their humans.
However should staff members be unable to safely travel to the practice, we may unfortunately need to reschedule today's appointments.
We will keep you updated as the day progresses.
βοΈ Stay safe βοΈ
π£ STEM CELL & PLATELET-RICH PLASMA THERAPY π£
We are extremely excited to announce that we are now offering stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma treatment.
Regenerative medicine harnesses natural mechanisms to encourage healing and repair processes in the body, using the patients own cells.
There is growing evidence that shows fantastic potential in the use of these methods as part of the treatment of various health issues, including osteoarthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia, ligament, tendon and muscle injuries, spinal diseases and even gingivostomatitis in cats.
We are proud to be working with one of the UK's most prominent companion animal stem cell laboratories to be able to carry out these cutting edge biological treatments in-house.
If you have any queries, please call or email us for further details.
You must love a great beard, and little Teddy has one to be proud of! π
He was very brave for his surgery today, and has enjoyed cuddles with Wenda, one of our fabulous vets. π πΆ π

β’ have the ability to be the link between clients and the clinical team
β’ be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Poor Toby had an accident whilst running through bushes over the weekend. We'd like to use his story to raise awareness that skin injuries can be deceptive.
As skin is elastic, but underlying tissues (like muscles) are not so much, a seemingly small wound may cover extensive injuries underneath.
This is why exploring such injuries under general anaesthesia is the gold standard practice.
Toby's wound on the first picture may seem relatively harmless, but the second one shows how lucky he actually was, as the stick damaged all layers of muscles over his chest, just millimetres short of penetrating the chest cavity.
Once we finished cleaning, flushing and repairing the wound, he walked home a few hours later, happy as Larry. Or Toby. π€ππ
A rabbit was handed into our practice this morning after being found as a stray.
If you are missing a rabbit from the Agnes Road/Park Grove area please get in touch.
We are not sharing pictures or too much information regarding the identification of the bunny as the owners will need to give an accurate description and other evidence to prove ownership.
The bunny doesn't seem too disgruntled that its great escape plan was cut short by a vigilant member of public π°π
A happy boy after his surgery. π±β€
Garfield broke one of his teeth and developed a tooth root abscess, that we sorted out today. He's been a really good patient and we can't wait for him to get back to normal. π
Sadly, a dead cat was brought in to us after being found outside Govier's Barber Shop on Park Road, Worsbrough. She was most probably hit by a car.
Adult, domestic short hair, ginger girl with small white patch on her chest and chin, no collar, no microchip.
She will be held for 2 weeks at our practice before arranging cremation.
Please share. πͺ
If you've been to us over the past 3 months, please leave us a feedback on Google and let other pet lovers hear about your experience. πΆπ±πΉππ¦πΈ π

Prickly by sight, but sweet by nature, Doris was a superstar during her visit earlier this week.
It turned out she had pneumonia, but she's been taking her meds alright and feeling much better already. π π¦
Cutie of the day:
Lilly, the leopard gecko came to us as she's been having issues with shedding.
Our resident vet, Gabor (who's also nurturing a sizeable clutch of exotics at home) "shed" some light on tips and tricks to improve Lilly's nutrition and husbandry, helping to avoid these problems in the future. π¦
How adorable are these little cuties that have had surgery with us this weekend β little bundles of fluff π
Remember guys that our team are here for your own cuties on a weekend with normal working appointments right up until 9pm on Sundays. Can't come on a week day due to your work pattern...? We also have normal working appointments on Tuesdays right up until 10pm! ππ
