🌈 Remembering Snoopy 🌈
I had just moved into my new unit, logistics of moving a whole clinic and office were underway. Lily came with me to do some jobs, I had no chair so plonked myself down and just started to reflect on how far YPT had come. I became overwhelmed with sadness, my whole reason for starting this journey was to help Snoopy. We had lost Penny 9 months previous and I needed a new focus, and I knew it had to be something with dogs.
I never knew what journey would lie ahead and that it would tip my whole understanding about canine health on its head. We do the best we can with the information we have at the time. Conventional medicine sustained Snoopy and his complex health needs… he was surviving not thriving. Constantly in and out of the vets, daily injections to manage his diabetes, skin so itchy I would regularly have to clean self sustained wounds from scratching.
Yes it sustained him, until it ultimately failed him.
I wish I had someone to turn my head that there could be another way, a different outlook on nutrition for him and it didn’t come out of a prescription bag.
I’m not saying nutrition could have cured him… but he could have had the opportunity to thrive. It was an infected gallbladder that meant he wouldn’t eat, which meant we couldn’t manage his insulin and lead to the toughest phone call I have ever had to make.
Am I a bit crazy about canine pain, you bet.
Am I a bit intense about nutrition, sure am.
Am I a bit OTT about supps, absolutely.
It’s all for a reason, and that reason is Snoopy. I will never tell you what is right or wrong for your dog, ultimately that is your choice. What I will do is outline EVERY option and you make the informed choice.

It’s like a siren call when I hear this phrase. I’ve not met a SINGLE dog who is DRAMATIC.
Painful, yes.
Scared, yes.
Anxious, yes.
Dramatic insinuates that a behaviour is being amplified for effect… it’s just not the case.
This is also a public warning that I can and I will use my hair as a weapon.
