Just like humans, dogs have their own personality and their own mind. Of course, within that we can modify some of their behaviour just like we can learn and modify our own. But it's important to be realistic about who your dog is at their core.
They don't owe you anything. And if you brought them into your life with an expectation that they're not meeting, that's a you problem.
When we accept our dog for who they are and work with that, the relationship really shifts.
Comment one thing below that you really love about your dog's personality 🥰

✨ See you there ✨

When I started Yorkshire Pooches Therapies I had a dream, to make the world a nicer place for dogs. That dream is still the same but continually grows with my soul mission to make the world a nicer place for PAINFUL dogs.

To be asked to speak at Dog Behavior Conference 2026 is a phenomenal opportunity to share the canine pain message and incredibly humbling.

Early bird registration is open now, 17-19th April I will be delivering my lecture,

Making a Right Dog’s Dinner of it: The role between canine pain and nutrition.

My heart sings when I lecture on canine pain and canine nutrition… imagine how excited I will be to tackle BOTH topics in one lecture.

Never let your mini me dreams fade, the universe always has a plan ✨

🐾 F*ck Fireworks 🐾

The same disagreements occur on socials every year about fireworks. I’m not being a huge fun sponge and saying NO fireworks, but if they were just kept to licensed displays so that you could map out dates near your home and prep.

Noise sensitivity is a HUGE behavioural indication I see with many of the dogs I work with… PAINNNN

Big bang made them jump.
That shock caused a shoot of acute pain.
Dog now thinks all big bangs cause pain.

Obviously it is far more complex than that but you get the gist. So no matter how much we prep, desensitise there are going to be some dogs that slip through the cracks because ultimately fear is a primal response.

I was once recommended by a trainer many moons ago not to comfort Rodney because it will make him worse. I think about that one year I didn’t comfort him, well it haunts me in fact. He has done SO much better with years of compassion and support… almost like that advice was indeed a crock of s**t.

Comfort your dog if they need it want it, this will look different for every dog.

You all know the super safe precautions, lead on in the garden, don’t walk in the dark, be mindful when you open your front door etc.

Skullcap & Valerian liquid and tablets is GREAT for that natural support
