ADDER BITES: Here’s what to do! ⏬
🐍 Keep your dog close to you or on a lead around areas known for Adder populations – this will stop them from bothering the snakes and the likelihood of the snakes striking.
🐍 If an Adder has bitten your pet, call your vet immediately, and if possible, carry your pet to stop the venom from spreading.
🐍 Even if you have been on a walk and haven't seen your pet get bitten but are acting out of character or notice any swellings, call your vet to be safe.
As we go through these warmer months, we will likely see more Adders basking in the sun, where they are likely to be bothered by your pets!

Exercising in temps over 20 degrees can be a risk to fit healthy dogs, much lower for elderly, obese, flat-faced or large breed dogs 🌡️🔥
Stay safe and enjoy the glorious weather 🌞
While the air temperature might seem bearable, remember that the pavement can be scorching hot for our furry friends' paws 🔥
⚠️ If you can't hold the back of your hand to the pavement for 5-7 seconds, it's too hot for your dog's delicate paws.
Protecting your pet's paws is key during the summer months. Opt for walks during cooler times of the day and stick to grassy areas where possible.
Happy Father's Day! 🤩
How are you celebrating the day?
From mysterious treasures to secret snacks, we want to know what your furry friend would stash away!

As temperatures rise, so does the risk of flystrike for our fluffy companions. Flystrike, a potentially fatal condition, occurs when flies lay eggs on a rabbit's fur, which then hatch into maggots and feed on their flesh.
🔍 Keep a close eye on your rabbit's hygiene and living environment, especially during warmer months. Regularly check for any signs of soiled fur, wounds, or unusual behaviour. Prevention is key: ensure your rabbit's living space is clean and dry, and consider using flystrike prevention methods recommended by your vet.
🚨 If you suspect flystrike, seek veterinary assistance immediately. Early detection and treatment are crucial for the well-being of your furry friend. Let's keep our rabbits safe and flystrike-free this summer! 🌞🐇
While pets may be in our lives briefly, they leave a lasting impression in our memories🌈

Microchipping is not just important for dogs, but for cats, rabbits and horses too!
With a microchip that is registered with up to date contact details, your pet has a better chance of being reunited with you if they were to become lost or stolen.

As the sun starts to shine brighter, let's not forget some of our pale skinned furry friends' skin protection!
May 27th is Sunscreen Day, reminding us of the importance of safeguarding those pet such as white coated animals with pink skin from harmful UV rays. Just like us, some pets can suffer from sunburn and may occasionally lead to skin cancer.
Ensure your pet stays safe in the sun by limiting access to direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day. If tolerated and won’t be licked off, apply pet-safe sunscreen to exposed areas. Also, provide shady spots outdoors.
Let's keep our pets happy, healthy, and sun-safe! ☀️🐾

We don't need a week to appreciate our amazing Receptionists as we appreciate them every single day ❤ But as it is Veterinary Receptionist week, we are going to be sharing posts of appreciation throughout the week and highlight some of the jobs we do on a day to day basis. In this video our Receptionist Charlotte is demonstrating some of the tasks we complete. We truly would be lost without our reception teams, please join us in a massive thank you to each and everyone of them for everything that they do 🥰👏🥳 #VeterinaryReceptionistWeek
The first and last face you see when you visit 💗 From booking in pets for a routine vaccination to dealing with an emergency arrival. Spay? Neuter? Fixing? Being done? Whatever you call it, it is the most responsible thing you can do for your cat. Here’s why ⏬ 😺 Helps protect your cat against diseases and some cancers 😺 Protects female cats against risks that come with pregnancy 😺 Reduces the chances of male cats ‘spraying’, as this is something unneutered cats do to mark their scent to attract potential suitors. If you have any questions about this for your cat, please give us a call or ask us the next time you are in. #WorldSpayDay
They might not be as obvious with it as dogs, but cats have their ways of showing their love ⏬ 💗 If your cat’s tail is upright, they are content and safe and if it has a quiver at the top… this means you have a very happy cat! 💗 Purring is usually a sign that your cat is happy and content, but it can have other meanings such as feeling nervous at the vets 💗 Giving you a cheeky cheek rub or a gentle head-butt, they are marking their scent on you, and is a way they build up bonds with other animals. 💗 And finally… rolling over allowing you to rub their belly is the ultimate sign of trust and love! Let us know if you spot any of the above signs in your cat… photos are always welcome 😽 #ValentinesDay
How does our four-legged friend show their love? Let’s have a look 🐶⏬ 💗 When your dog chooses to come cuddle up to you (on their terms), they trust you, they love you and they want to be close to you! 💗 That helicopter tail wag? This type of tail behaviour is for people who they love the most. 💗 Eye contact, but with soft relaxed eyes shows that your dog has level of trust in you and wants you to know about it. These are but three signs, but there’s many more, has your dog shown any today? We’d love for you to tell us. 💞 #ValentinesDay

We recently receive recognition in our local paper for our Brindley Way Hospital being accredited as a gold cat-friendly practice by the ISFM. Goblin wanted to give all our clients and feline friends a guided tour 😎 Since we opened the site in 2022, we’ve introduced facilities to ensure cats have an as comfortable experience as possible when they visit our practice. We’ve created low-stress environments through having medical and ICU units for cats, oxygen therapy kennels, and cat kennels complete with cat castles creating comfortable and quiet spaces for our feline patients. Well done to our team who have worked incredibly hard to make cat wellbeing a priority at our practice 🥰🐾🐱
We love it when our clients are creative with distracting their pet during a vet's visit 🤩 Dave's Mummy came prepared with a yummy-filled kong for him to lick while nurse Jenny performed an anal gland expression 😋🐶 What techniques do you use for your pet? Let us know below 👇
Cats + Christmas Tree = Paranoia 🤪 On a serious note, please keep any lights and decorations out of cat paw reach.

👩⚕️🏥 | What does a Registered Veterinary Nurse do in practice? In short? A lot! Tina breaks down what our fabulous and dedicated VNs do day in and day out. #VeterinaryNursingAwarenessMonth
The term veterinary nurse is a contentious conversation in the vet world. Registered veterinary nurses and student veterinary nurses are registered with the royal college of veterinary surgeons. They are regulated by them in terms of their conduct and keeping up-to-date with training. The term veterinary nurse is a contentious conversation in the vet world as anyone can use this term, even if not qualified or registered. Efforts have been made to change this, and we fully support this; our nursing team deserves to have their title protected and for pet owners to know your vet nurse is fully qualified to look after your beloved pet. Registered vet nurses RVN and registered student nurses RSVN are always qualified and trained. #vetnurse #vnam #vnam2023 #EmpowerOurVNs #vetlife
