Poor Rupert was dumped outside a bakery. 💔 He was clearly very hungry and couldn't resist raiding the bakery and eating all the hot cross buns!

Despite waiting for someone to claim him, no one came forward, and he was brought into our care, where he finally felt safe.

He's now on his way to finding a loving home after gaining confidence and mastering his training. But, sadly, larger breeds like him tend to take longer to be adopted.

CHRISTMAS IS FOR GIVING.
Your pets will receive extra cuddles and treats for Christmas this year, but as celebrations happen, this lonesome rescue boy is hoping that a festive miracle will bring him a forever home.

Dear Santa,
I don’t know if you remember me from last year, but I wrote you a letter then. I only have one wish …to have my own someone to love me. I remember that I thought I had that once..I went to the vets because I was poorly but when I was better they didn’t come back for me. I’m not sure what I did wrong. I know that I’m not what many would class as the right breed, a Staffie X and I’m not a fan of other pets but I am a loving boy given a chance. I just need someone who understands me for who I am and what that means in a home. In return you’ll get lots of cuddles and the wisdom and maturity that comes with being a senior ….I’m 9 you see.
My friends here tell me I’m very special which is why I’ve had to wait longer to find the right home. I really hope that’s soon.

Bruno is really depressed here in kennels. He does enjoy his walks but spends most of the time in his basket watching others take that important step to a new beginning. We know he’s not our easiest resident to rehome but we hope that somewhere out there is someone, having a very secure garden and the home he needs to spend his retirement years surrounded by love and comfort. Sadly no other pets or children.
Seniors are not very demanding in their golden years. Might there be someone out there who can make his wish come true?

URGENT 🆘 2 X FOSTER HOMES NEEDED ASAP
We've been asked to help these two pretty little Cocker Spaniel girlies 😍.
They're not bonded so can be separated so ideally 2 foster homes. These girls are tiny, only 8.5kg each (although under weight at the moment). One of the girls (with the toy) needs a home as the only pet as can show a bit of resource guarding, but the other is fine to go with a another friendly neutered dog, sorry no cats. Experienced homes only with no young children and a very secure garden please (at least 5ft fencing). BLDR will supply their food, leads, collars and vet fees. If you can't help please share 🙏🙏 Foster homes around the South/West Yorkshire area preferred

You wouldn’t leave a dog in a hot car, but did you know it's also incredibly dangerous to leave a dog in a cold car? Temperatures can quickly plummet. If you need to make a trip in the car, leave your dog at home or take them with you when leaving the vehicle – even if you’re only popping out for a minute.

Milo is a sprightly chap for a senior and always greets our dog walkers with the waggiest bum. It's hard to see older dogs overlooked, especially when they are very much a 'young dog' at heart 💚🐾

Will you see the potential in our lovely kittens?

Here are two gorgeous kittens – both black and white boys – who have been overlooked so far in their search for a forever home.

Days are turning into weeks, and we are sad that no-one has asked to meet these two babies yet. They are only 12 weeks old, with adorable personalities. The boys were born with us, and have been raised in a family home with their lovely mum and a lively little dog in the house.

They are great fun, loving and playful – they are vaccinated and chipped and ready for their new home. They can be adopted singly, or as a pair.

We’d love to hear from you if you think you can offer either of these lads a loving home.

Today, on his birthday, we celebrate our late Ambassador Paul O’Grady. Paul was a lover of animals, an LGBT icon, and a dear friend of Battersea. Over the years, Paul adopted 6 beautiful Battersea dogs and helped raise the profile of rescue animals everywhere. He will always be remembered as a hero to us and our animals. 💙

Please report any fake sites that you spot. Be aware of online scams and contact your bank if you have filled in your bank details online. If it looks too good to be true it probably is! Meanwhile here is a picture of a one eared alpaca that really has two ears!
Other tips:
We are blue tick verified - if you don’t see the blue tick next to our name, it’s not us
Check fake pages by looking at follower statistics, if they have no friends and low numbers of followers that’s a strong indicator they are fake
If the font looks strange and off, it’s fake
If they redirect you away from Facebook and ask for further information then think carefully before handing over any personal information.

❄️ Winter pet care tips ❄️

Looking after your pet’s paws in winter is important because rock salt, which is used to grit the roads, can be dangerous for them.

When your pet cleans their paws after being outside there is a risk they will ingest some of the rock salt.

Keep them safe with a wipe down after being outside on their paws, legs and under the belly. Use a dog friendly shampoo if needed.

The RSCPA said ‘It is difficult to say how much needs to be eaten for signs of toxicity to be seen. Even a small amount of pure salt can be very dangerous to pets.'
