🐾 Meet Missy – Our Brave Little Cockapoo 💕

Sweet Missy recently had a frightening accident after being hit by a car and was rushed to MiNight Vets Barnstaple for emergency care. Our team quickly stabilised her, provided pain relief, and carried out radiographs to assess her injuries.

As you can see from her X-ray, Missy suffered a fracture to her radius and ulna 😢. With some careful splinting, a funky bandage, plenty of love, and a cool comfort beanie, she’s been the perfect little patient, with a little hip hop vibe! (Thus the music)

She’s now back with her primary care vets for ongoing treatment, and we’re all wishing her the smoothest, speediest recovery. 💖🐶

A New Will to Win! 🌊

We’re so proud of Ruth, one of our incredible night veterinary nurses, who’s rowing 250km between October and Christmas to help raise funds for a new wooden gig — all while managing a congenital heart condition. 💪💙

Torridge Pilot Gig Club in Appledore is celebrating 20 years of rowing and aiming to raise £35,000 for a brand-new Cornish Pilot Gig — a lasting legacy for the community and a symbol of teamwork and determination. 🚣‍♀️✨

Every metre Ruth rows and every pound raised brings the club closer to their dream boat and more people on the water.

‼️Stray Dog ‼️

We’ve have a female red labrador found in the North Molton area handed to us overnight. She’s chipped but her microchip doesn’t appear to be registered to a current owner.

Merry Christmas to you all! Just a little heads up if you’re planning on burning off that Christmas dinner with a dog walk on the beach, it appears to have been reported on local pages that palm oil has been washed up on our stretch of coastline, most likely as a consequence of the recent storms. This waxy substance is very attractive to dogs, but if ingested can cause pancreatitis. This extremely painful condition can cause severe abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and lethargy. In some cases hospitalisation is necessary and can be serious. Please be super vigilant if you are walking your dogs on the coastline and if you suspect your dog may have ingested some, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, DO NOT wait for symptoms to develop. Here’s nurse Yolanda and her Labrador Conan, who is looking very festive in his smart Christmas jumper! Conan is one of our older staff dogs, who will be celebrating his 15th birthday in March. His favourite things are eating and sleeping!

The team at MiNight would like to wish you all a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year. We sincerely hope you won’t need us but if you do, there will be a vet and two nurses on duty during the nights and bank holidays over the festive season.
