Since the Stone Age, wool has been appreciated as one of the most effective forms of all-weather protection, and science is yet to produce a man-made fibre which matches its unique properties.

For thousands of years, sheep have been able to adapt to even the harshest of environments, as their wool protects them through hot, cold, damp and dry seasons. Wool has a large capacity to absorb moisture vapour (up to 30 per cent of its own weight) making it extremely breathable, and comfortable in extremes and changes of temperature.

Shout out to the farmers, who work 24/7 all year round even in the extremes of weather to nurture and protect their animals.

For farmers, Christmas Day is just another day on the job but with even earlier mornings and longer hours.

For farming families, Christmas looks a little different:

๐ŸŒ… Starting early: Theyโ€™re up before dawn to check and feed livestock, ensuring everything is in order.
๐ŸŽ„ Christmas Eve prep: Long hours the night before ensure everything is ready for a smooth start on Christmas morning.
๐Ÿ‘ No time off: Even in the afternoon and evening, animals need feeding, checking, and looking after.
Farmers dedication keeps the countryside thriving and ensures animals are cared for no matter the season.

Creeside Escape Shepherd's Hut - Experiential, Sustainable and Close to Nature

Fresh air, dark starry skies, peace & quiet whilst staying in a traditional shepherd's hut on our farm.

Our hut is sited with uninterrupted views of the River Cree and the Galloway Hills in the distance. On warmer summer evenings relax outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery, but if itโ€™s wet and windy retreat inside where you will be warm and toasty beside the wood buring stove.
