== Vanity Fur 2024 == As seen on TV!!
We are back from the longest time we have been away since lockdown! 2023 was full of new challenges, we have tried to sum things up in around 3 minutes, take a look - you never know what you might see! The New Year, in fact tomorrow (January 4th) is the deadline for our petition to introduce regulation to the grooming industry in Wales. The grooming sector is now included in the Welsh Government's new consultation that started on December 8th 2023. Thankyou for your support and encouragement, it was the best Christmas present!
2024 will be a year for some new firsts too. You will be able to watch the VF Team on TV! More news to follow, but we can say somebody you will all know will be taking their first steps into becoming a dog groomer with us. Filming starts at the end of January!
See you tomorrow!!
Ziggy the 18 week old Cavachon’s second Puppy Introduction visit went very well. A natural photo poser he knows all the moves, usually involving tummy rubs. A very handsome young chap! #ohmydog
Everyone at VF is loving their new Nathan Austin PawMat from the US. An awesome new addition to our client dog’s grooming experience from the AKC Master Groomer of the Year 2023. A Cut Above Grooming Salon

When the playing of music in a grooming salon is more highly regulated than the grooming itself, you know things have to change. In fact a dog first aid qualification costs typically around less than half the compulsory cost of playing music in a grooming salon!
We're petitioning Welsh Government for regulation—to ensure that our dogs are safe, healthy and cared for. The petition does not need to reach 10 000 signatures as a debate in the Senedd is not required, the Welsh Government has a 5 year Animal Welfare plan https://www.gov.wales/animal-welfare-plan-wales-2021-26 and the petition is completely in-sync with their plans to broaden the licensing of animal activities The Animal Welfare Network for Wales for Wales is the reporting agency to the Senedd.

The petition has already successfully passed through to the Senedd Committee phase, this means it will automatically go forward when the petition ends in January 2024. Again, we would like to remind everyone that as the title of the petition outlines, this effort is to introduce standards on the behalf of OWNERS and their DOGS.
The questions raised and consequences of any proposed regulation are ultimately for the Welsh Government to implement and enforce. We have set no minimum grooming qualification criteria at all (apart fro

=== Rufus the Gordon Setter ===
We had a true Gavin and Stacey adventure yesterday with Locksheath Baloo Moon (Rufus), as we started our preparation for his first competitive grooming event on July 2nd at the Kennel Club, with Mastergroom 2023. So off to Essex, to work with one of the UK’s most accomplished, experienced and positive groomers you could ever meet. Handstrip specialist Hannah Bowles of Pooches based in Chelmsford. It was truly one of most enjoyable and insightful meetings we have had in 13 years within the dog industry. With nearly 20 years in the business, we were blown away not just by her talent, but the outstanding premises, operating systems and standards. Thankyou Hannah!
We started working on setting his correct lines and Rufus as a semi-retired Championship show dog was a total star. Patient, focused and a magnificent example of his stylish, intelligent and dignified breed. Many thanks to his generous owners Mike and Jane Purden for allowing us to work with him, he is a credit to your efforts and care. #barrybadogs
Vanity Fur had a little visit today from Fiery Jack Entertainment to view the latest goings on here via our Pooch Portal. It was a good job Andre was unaware of this happening! #barrybadogs
