This lady came to me worried as she was yet to get a Biology grade needed for university in all her mocks.
But this morning I got the call, and that call lead to tears. I’m and so proud of all her hard work. That 121 tutoring was all that was needed to unlock her true potential!
I know she’s going to do very well in her future studies.

My mums dog just had two removed that were deeply embedded in his nose, bot nice at all. So please be vigilant.

Grass seed season is upon us ‼️

Also known as grass awns, darts, arrows, jack seeds….Whatever you call them, they can cause big issues with pets.

They can become lodged in between paws, up noses, in eyes, in ears or get stuck in fur. Because of the shape of them, they tend to go in nicely but they aren’t always easy to remove.

If they become embedded, your pet will likely need sedation so they can be removed safely.

There are things you can do to help avoid them…

1 - Avoid walking in grassy areas
2 - Post walk checks (ears, feet, eyes)
3 - Keep fur clipped short around these areas
4 - Look out for any swellings between toes
5 - Watch for head shaking after a walk

If in any doubt, that your pet may have a grass seed lodged somewhere it shouldn’t be, please call the practice in the first instance…They longer they are left, the trickier they can be to find!

Good morning,

I’ve seen lots of posts recently from people asking for boarders who have availability, followed by people offering services which I know some are not licensed to carry out. A couple of years back the law changed, and all borders now require insurance and a license which they will get once they have passed all inspections checks carried out by their local council. So please be careful.

My advice to you if looking for a dog boarder,
Is to contact your local council, they can provide you with a list of registered, licensed and insured home boarders. Unfortunately there are far too many people doing it without insurance or the appropriate license, meaning if anything happens to your pet or another animal because of their actions while in their care the owner would be liable.
Hope that helps.

Good morning!

The temperatures are starting to climb and summer vibes are truly underway!🥳
But remember, as responsible owners we need to remember not only do pets die in hot cars!! but

ANIMALS CAN SUFFER HEAT STROKE TO:
Heat stroke is a common problem for pets in the warmer weather. Dogs with short noses or snouts, are prone to heat stroke. As are overweight pets, a pet with an extremely thick fur coat or any pet with upper respiratory problems.

Signs of heat stroke are:
-Heavy panting and unable to calm down, even when lying down.
-Brick red gum color
_Fast pulse rate, this can be checked using the femoral pulse on the inside in the animals hind (back) legs or chest
Normal rates dogs 60/140
Cats 160/240
Rabbits 120/150
Horses 28/40
Guinea pig 240/310
To determine your pet's heart rate, put your hand to their chest or femoral artery and count how many pulses you feel in 15 seconds, then multiply by four to get the number of beats per minute.
_and Unable to get up.

Seek medical veterinary attention stright away if you feel your pet may be suffering from heat stroke.
DO NOT try and cool them down by pouring cold water over them! as this can send their body into shock!
But extremities such as paws, head and tail can be wetted.

Medivet Southend Adder Watch - today we’ve had two more patients with adder bites across Essex! Both dogs have been bitten on the face after snuffling in a bush. Luckily both are stable after emergency treatment but we want to warn our clients. The first dog was bitten this afternoon on a walk at Hadleigh Downs by Benfleet station, the second dog was in Woodside Park in Benfleet this evening. Please be careful out there.

Please keep all your pets/ animals safe ❤️

It’s not even 10am and it’s already 25 degrees! the temperature will continue to rise. So
her are some simple and easy tips for keeping you pets cool this summer ☀️🐾

PLENTY of fresh water!!

If the grounds to hot for you barefooted it's to hot for them to walk!

If your home open the window but close the curtains to help keep your house cool. If your out then just close the curtains.

Leave a fan on in the house or if possible the place they like to relax

Kongs filled and placed in the freezer is a fun and cold enrichment for them

If they are outside make sure there is a shady area

The same for small furies make sure their hutch is placed in the shade

Pet still need exercise and walking so if need be switch the time you walk them. Either early morning or late evening when its cooler

Lastly a paddling pool is another fun way to help cool your pets of and something they can use as and when needed
