The pulse mag. Simple, but effective, electrotherapy which can penetrate the deepest of tissues in the animals body. Very useful for:- Altering blood flow- Increase bone healing rate- Reduce acute and chronic pain- Improve healing of nerve damage and nerve health- Relaxing sensationBecause the electromagnetic field can work on very deep structures, the pad can be put on over rugs or the small animals just needs to sit on it to be effective! Such a useful tool.#vetphysio #veterinaryphysiotherapist #equinephysio #equinephysiotherapy #pemftechnology #pulsemag #physio #physiotreatment #electrotherapy
One of my favourite techniques: scanning laser. Inspired by the success of the class 4 scanning setting at the hospital, I have implemented this with my own laser when treating a large area, such as the back. Slowly moving the laser over an area, I am constantly watching for muscle reactions to the pressure. In the video you can see the muscle contract as I move over a trigger point - which is a bundle of over-sensitive nerves that cause pain and muscle spasm. After a short period, the muscle starts relaxing, seen by the rippling action of the muscles before complete relaxation. It does take a few passes to achieve significant results, 5 minuets is often enough. I always follow it up with massage and trigger point therapy to remove the most stubborn trigger points. #equinephysio #caninephysio #veterinaryphysiotherapy #equine #canine #vetphysio #laser #lasertherapy #massagetherapy #triggerpoint #triggerpointtherapymassage
Long grass is often used as part of a rehabilitation exercise plan to improve joint mobility and weight bearing on limbs. All animals will adapt their gait to clear the ground in the most energy efficient fashion. With long grass, it’s easier for an animal to lift their limbs higher than to it is drag their limbs through it. This increases joint range of motion and requires greater strength and endurance from large locomotor muscles. In order to clear the ground, an animals centre of mass must move around more than walking on flat ground, challenging balance and fine postural control. Other ways we simulate long grass work is hydrotherapy in the underwater treadmill and walking over poles. #vetphysio #vetphysiotherapy #veterinaryphysiotherapyandrehab #caninephysio #caninephysio #caninerehab #equinephysio #equinerehab #rehabexercises #grass #walkies #poles #caninehydro #equinehydrotherapy
