Bea 🐝
Bea returned home today after her 3 and a bit weeks with me.
Bea has a bite history of other dogs under her belt but from seeing everything about her it’s very clear this only happened when she was pushed into a situation she was made to feel so uncomfortable in she thought her only choice was to bite. Where really she is more than happy to do her own thing she very rarely seeks out the attention of other dogs but can really nicely form a bond with another dog her and Sevyn loved each other.
Bea was very rarely off lead her recall was hit and miss, she wasn’t sleeping enough, her obedience wasn’t great and she was over weight.
She’s gone home fully reliable off lead, heels both on and off lead, fully rested being crate trained once again, shifted the extra weight, clear in play, holds positions can be around multiple dogs and sprinting like her life depends on it.
She’s been an absolute joy
If your interested in starting your training journey send me a message and we can get cracking
On a training trip with klaus today while I was having a coffee working on continuing to proof his obedience in a different environment multiple people tried to bring their dogs over to say hi one being a tiny puppy and this could have ended in disaster.
1. This isn’t a space to socialise your dogs with others it’s a coffee shop. A confined area where people are trying to get on with their day.
2. A lot of dogs don’t actually enjoy the experience. When I’m doing exposure trips the sessions are short and sweet and we end on a high. If your dog can’t settle in a less distracting environment it’s going to be a lot harder in a busy coffee shop. I actually think it can be a bit selfish to take your dog into a coffee shop just because you want to socialise.
3. Just because a dog is in a public space like a coffee shop doesn’t mean it’s there to socialise when you bring your dog in. We could be working on confidence, neutrality to people, working on obedience in a different environment. Not a social invitation to force your dog into an uncomfortable and possibly dangerous situation.
4. I’ve seen a lot of very rude and pushy dogs in coffee shops who continuously bark and lunge trying to either get to other people, dogs or food so much more needs to be put in place before even stepping foot in a coffee shop.
Klaus is a social dog with people and other dogs but in the right setting he has a lot of training under his belt and held his down when the dogs came past looked to me for reward.
I shook my head and said no to the owners.
The most worry one to me was the very small puppy who’s owners chose to sit directly across from us. They had been looking over for a while at klaus I swiftly got up and left.
Klaus is an almost 50kg shepherd and I’m not putting him in a position where he may fail due to being in a more confined area.
Now I’m not saying never take your dog to a coffee shop but it’s something to work up to overtime and if your

All I ever look for when we have a session like this is enthusiasm and fun well and there’s sass but that’s Luna
Have fun with your dogs we don’t have them for long enough
Maybe one day I could fully stay in frame and not constantly check my watch to make sure we are 😂

Charlie boy 💕
In January we made a plan to get Charlie back on track as things had slipped in general he was getting all the correct socialisation he needed with @ps.k9_ and Paige was proofing all his basics but Charlie was pushy.
He’s a pushy young working Labrador who matured and his drive for scent was literally taking over his brain he did not care about anything else at this point even tho he’s had a lot of training he couldn’t not be diverted from scent.
Today I had Charlie with me for a day train and I used this as an opportunity to put the last almost 2 months to the test.
He absolutely killed it he recalled away from dogs he spotted with a reflex response. He walked other dogs keeping a heel.
One thing we’ve changed with Charlie is conditioning him to an e-collar and also a prong. Charlie had a very clear understanding of recall and lead pressure but his drive was taking over.
This is week 5 of both and we still have the same Charlie but more control meaning everyone can now enjoy taking him out.
Dogs like this make my heart so full I’ve seen the whole picture from start to now this point.
I’ll still be having lessons with Charlie’s owner to keep everything on track and he’s with @ps.k9_ 3 times a week so the consistency he had is going to be top tier.
I’m so excited for team Charlie this is only the beginning 🙌
Each one of the above dogs has had some form of reactivity.
Luna has a bite history under her belt and hated any dog she wasn’t comfortable with her go to was to lunge and snap to get any dog away also had to be muzzled with any new interaction.
Kingsley was very uncomfortable with dogs in his space and would also lunge, struggle to disengage and snap
Elwood and Maggie are very similar their reactivity come in the form of being over friendly let be pals with everyone.
The thing we all have in common is we changed our mindset on how we trained our dogs. We use tools to communicate with our dogs, use markers, socialise with appropriate dogs, fulfil our dogs and give them the freedom they need!
The relationship we each have with our dogs is probably the best it’s been but having the friendships that go along with training your dogs add the cherry on top of it all 💕
