It is November and the festive season is soon upon us. Christmas is filled with fun family times, tasty food but also gifts. We realise that quite a few might be tempted to buy a pet for Christmas. We at SDR are here to urge you to please resist that temptation - A pet is for life not just for Christmas!

The festive period tends to haze what our day-to-day routine and surroundings look like. Welcoming a dog takes time and tons, and tons of research and acknowledgment from all members of the family that every breed is very different with varying wants and needs. Do your research.
Pets are permanent members of your family, not presents. When you have decided that you and your family are ready for a new member - make sure it’s done in a proper and safe manner. Look into a rescue or find a reputable breeder, ensure you can offer a loving and comfortable environment, and be willing to sacrifice time to give your pet everything they need to live a happy and wholesome life. A pet is for life, not just for Christmas!
