~A dog groomer Christmas poem~ by Riza Wisnom
Twas the day before Christmas
And all through the shop
All souls were exhausted
From bottom to top
The collars were hung on the shop crates with care
Though it wasn’t yet time for
their owners to be there
So busy were we
Trimming pompoms on mutts
And washing those cute
Little Welsh Corgi butts
Some dogs slept in their crates
Others sat in shampoo
When what did we hear
But a shout of “YOO-HOO!!”
Almost dropping my scissors
I thought no it could it be
Yes it was. Bella’s mom.
“Whosthebestgirl
did she miss me??”
Oh my dear please be patient
It’s not time yet, go home
If she were ready you’d know it
We’d tell you by phone
With grumbles and groans
She trudged back outside
But alas twas too late
For now Bella cried
All closed for the day
We sat slumped in a stupor
Munching Christmas treats
Gifted by a doodle named Cooper
There’s hair everywhere
Even in coffee mugs
Hair from huskies and Poms
And Goldens and Pugs
We are tired but happy
It’s a labor of love
We are thankful for clients
And thank God up above
For it’s not that we do it
To make bank accounts fat
We do it all for the love
Of your dog and your cat
Merry Christmas to all of our wonderful clients!
