I am back! Had a brilliant four days. Great hotel : berchielli, Florence (smoked salmon for breakfast, anyone? I stuck to the pastries 🤣🤣), more art than even I could cope with and lots, and lots of walking! No weight gain despite wonderful food. Feeling serene, happy and ready to love yet more cats and to start researching book Number Three: a biography of Harold Knight ! Bring on 2025!! Xx

Some truly dreadful weather this week: took me 3 hours to make a 30 min journey from Celia Hammond in Brede on Wednesday 😭😂. Stressed doesn't even begin to describe it! Last January was little better, with deluges of wind and rain and two near misses on the road from John's Cross. Thankfully the cats make up for it! However, have taken the decision that if you live outside Battle and DON'T have a snow key back up, then in January, when the weather is at its worst, I can only offer house sits. Much better value for you, your cats will be really happy and I won't get stressed! Obvs all Battle clients: no problem as I can walk to you! Have a lovely warm, frost/snow free week everyone H xx !

A couple of weeks of Pedigree Paradise. From Siamese to Birmans to even a Devon Rex! Much as I love all my clients' cats (and I really do!), after three more or less back to back house sittings, it is wonderful to be home, in my own bed and with my own babies. They are all sleek, plump and self satisfied (just like me! 🤣🤣). Wonderful weekend off and back at work Monday evening: have a great week all! H ###

Reunited again!! Yes, I was back at ostensibly for a great day of talks on The Wars of the Roses, but REALLY to see Hodge the Cathedral Cat! I see that I have lost none of my charm, or could it be the Dreamies that he likes??🤣🤣 Brilliant talks from Alison Weir and Amin but the star of the show was, of course, Hodge! Have a fab week all ! Kittens!! And booking alerts! You are NEVER too old for kittens, especially when they are as gorgeous as Milo (ginger) and Nellie ❤️. They have come from the wonderful Hollyview animal sanctuary and are much adored by their new owners. And by me!!
Now, for the serious stuff: I am FULLY BOOKED until 10 November and Xmas has only a few slots left. Please let me know if you think you may need me for Xmas. Off to take some Vitamin C to boost my energy for the kittens! Have a wonderful week! H xx

After a rather stressful, and expensive, week: one flat tyre, one slow puncture and a dying computer, I am delighted to be on a busman's holiday in Tunbridge Wells! There is nothing that cuddles with Maisie can't make right! And a day off tomorrow as am off to a matinee at for 'The Marriage of Figaro' (booked before the financial carnage of this week!). The wonderful magic of a microchip! It's a Bengal, so that will have been a very noisy reunion! 🤣🤣😻🤣

🌟THE POWER OF A MICROCHIP🌟

We were called out to scan this boy when he turned up crying on a Darwen street and was seen going through the bins for leftover pizza and naan bread 🥙🍕 as he was starving.

We went to scan him and low and behold he was chipped and it was registered. Unfortunately due to the amount of time the number was no longer available. So off we travelled to his registered address, but unfortunately, no one was in.

Speaking to the neighbours, we found out the owner still lived there, thankfully. 😽

After contacting the email address and we received a reply (phew) 😌.

This boy has now been reunited with his owner after being missing for TWO YEARS. Two whole years of being on the streets, struggling for food. 🙀

This just shows the power of a microchip, and even after two years, this boy gets to go home 🏠.

Thank you to everyone involved in helping look after, scan, and tracing details and also putting in the extra leg work to trace this boys owner x 😻😻😻

Oooh! Even the best job in the world has stressful weeks! Pleeeease, you all know that I am a worrier, but if I have concerns about your cat they are always legitimate: seventeen years experience must count for something!? Anyway, booking over and cat under vet, as I very much wanted. Phew! So, delighted to see the lovely Ziggi again, the venerable, but young at heart Minnie, Tiger Ted and the delectable Murphy! Wow! Really busy week as I am sure you can imagine! Really grateful for all the wonderful cats tho! Star of the week has to be Mimi, an 18 year old Siamese who her family rescued in Dubai and brought back to the UK. ❤️❤️. I just lie on the bed and she snuggles on top of me: bliss! Have a cuddle filled week everyone!

Enjoying a busman's holiday in Tunbridge Wells with a cat I have been looking after and have loved since 2016: the incredibly beautiful Maisie! Great chance to write the (hopefully!) penultimate chapter of my book (The King's Traitor: Reginald Pole and the Tudors, Nov 2025) whilst having some amazing cat cuddles. No one, but no one cuddles (or indeed snores!) like Maisie! Have a great week all! Xx
