Today is World Sleep Day. 💤💤

Did you know that adult dogs sleep for 12-14 hours a day! Puppies sleep anywhere from 18-20 hours per day! 🐶😴

It is known that sleep helps a dog's brain development, memory, and learning capacity, as well as their immune system! 🧠

Cats sleep for an average of 16 hours per day! This adds up to around 2/3rds of their lifetime! 🐱🐈

Let’s see some pictures of your sleeping pets in celebration of world sleep day!! 🐶🐱💤

‼️‼️CAT MICROCHIP LAW CHANGES‼️‼️

New legislation set out by the government states that, by the 10th June 2024, all owners must have their cats microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks.

Microchipping is a quick and easy procedure that can be performed at our clinic. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is placed under the skin between the shoulder blades.

This microchip has a unique number which is linked to the owners details meaning that if the cat is found lost, it can be reunited with its owners quickly and in time for dinner!!🍽️🐱

If you would like more information on microchipping your pet, or would like to book a nurse appointment for a microchip placement, please contact our reception team on 01494 673101

What are the signs of feline arthritis? Difficulty getting up or down stairs, trouble jumping up onto or down from surfaces, or becoming less active may all indicate signs of arthritis. If you have noticed any of these signs in your cat, call us today to book an appointment.

⭐️UPDATE: AUTUMN HAS NOW BEEN REHOMED! Thank you for all your continued support. Alley Cats have many cats that need homes. Please head over to their page if you think you could give them a loving home

————————————————————————————

This lovely cat is Autumn and she is currently being looked after by Alley Cat Rescue after being found as a stray. Her wonderful carers bought her to see Vet Jade after they noticed a lump on her side. She came in for surgery today and it was found that the lump was actually a gun pellet.

She is a lovely affectionate girl that loves her cuddles, even after what she's been through! Animals are wonderful and resilient, it's a shame that some people deem it acceptable to treat animals in this way. Autumn is available (as well as some of her friends at the shelter) for rehoming and we would love for her to find a new home where she can feel safe and secure for the rest of her life. If you think you can offer Autumn a home, please contact Alley Cats Rescue- Buckinghamshire, England.

May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month. Our nurses here at Straid play a very important role in your animals care whilst at our clinic.

The role of a Veterinary Nurse isn't always understood- we do more than cuddle puppies and kittens!

For this Vet Nurse Awareness Month (VNAM), IVC Evidensia have produced a video celebrating vet nurses and the varied roles that they take on during their car...
