🐾🐾🐾 Thank you all very much for your very kind offers of homes and help, we now have enough suitable offers of help and homes for all the kittens when we are able to trap them. We are very sorry we are unable to take any more calls or reply to any more messages regarding the kittens.
We are still working on trying to gain the kittens trust and trap them. We will then assess them and then know more about their needs.
We will keep you all informed with the progress we make once we have trapped them. We will then set up a go fund me page so their needs can be met while assessments take place, vet checks etc. 🐾🐾🐱
If you are still looking for a cat or kitten please do get in touch with cats protection or one if the many other charities that people have named on this post.

Last week someone dumped 4 kittens at our training centre, they are living under our old office block. (What wicked person would dump kittens at a dog training centre)
We have borrowed a trap from cats protection to try to catch them, however they are so overwhelmed atm they cant take them once we do catch them. The same with rspca.
These little kittens are likely to be semi feral all ready and will need a knowledgeable home or foster when we are able to catch them.
If any of you out there would be able to offer a permanent home, or foster please get in touch.
They will need to be microchipped, and neutered as soon as they are old enough.

This is so true…..

I need to write about normal.

An increasing number of people are giving up their dogs because they can't cope. However this seems to be because they do not really have an idea of what "normal" is and have a rather fantasy idea of what a dog should be.

Dogs are not people, however much we love them and it is important that this is realised.

The following things are all normal and any new dog owner needs to understand this:-
Puppies do not come ready trained and it is down to the new owner to work hard for a couple of years to do that training.
Puppies (all breeds) bite - it hurts.
Puppies chew stuff up. If you leave it lying around it will get eaten.
Puppies take a while to get house trained. The owner has to stand shivering in the garden at bedtime until the results happen. This can last for months.
Puppies - and indeed dogs - need to sleep a lot and should be left alone whilst doing so. They are not toys to be constantly carried around and petted.
Brain training toys do not make up for positive interaction and training with their owner.
Dogs rarely need clothes and wearing them indoors (except possibly for very old dogs) will make skin problems more likely.
Dogs don't necessarily like other dogs. They squabble can growl at each other and even fight. This is normal.
Bi***es come in season and have phantom pregnancies. These are normal body functions and should not cause anxiety.
Dogs and bi***es hump each other and objects. Not socially acceptable to humans but perfectly norma.
Dogs do not do spiteful or dominance or deliberate naughty or lots of other emotions people put on them They live for the day and can't differentiate between your new shoes and their toys.
If you spend your money in soft beds they will explode. The dog does not care how much it cost.
If a dog is bored or anxious it will chew stuff - this includes your sofa if you are daft enough to leave him unattended with it.

Dogs need exercise, love and attention and lots of training. They don't always get it right. If you can't accept all these normal things about a dog, please don't get one as the numbers being given up for normal behaviour is heartbreaking.

Congratulations to all our handlers who passed their kennel club good citizen awards yesterday.
We had a good pass rate of 13 out of 15 bronze, and 3 out of 6 gold. With one team just missing out on gold by getting up from the down stay just as the handler returned to them.
Our special thanks to Jo Belston who very kindly was our examiner for the day. Also to Lisa Ford who very kindly organised and scribed for the day.

Yesterday we sadly lost one of our crew. The beautiful big boy Benson went over the rainbow bridge. He made a huge impact on so many dogs and people at Waggytails since joining us in 2015. Lisa gave such him a wonderful life, they just clicked. He loved her calm, strong personality he felt safe with Lisa. Benson went from a dog too scared to live a normal life to a dog full of fun and mischief even joining the display team. He loved his obedience classes, scent work - agility was his favourite we got him a large tunnel but he would have none of it ! He loved spreading out in front of the fridge and sink at Waggytails and getting in the way as only a Leonberger knows how. He had a great sense of humour and made us laugh so much.
Lisa gave him the best life, so much love and care and our hearts go out to Lisa and Bob. Sleep well Benny Boy, I hope you and Beamer are having fun together. 🌈 💔 🐾💔🐾💔🐾💔🐾💔🌈
