MissChif and Reiki - A few months ago I decided to find out a little more about Reiki and the positive effects it can have on animals, dogs in particular of course! I was looking to offer MissChif (12 years old) something beneficial and therapeutic, but non invasive, and was delighted to enrol the expertise of Trish Smith, an Animal and Equine Reiki Master Practitioner (UGO Healing), to take us on a little Reiki journey.
MissChif is a beautiful and kind dog, although a little quirky, who has needed extra special care and support over the years. She’s well mannered, but is disinterested in strangers and, whilst compliant, can be somewhat of a fidget when it comes to Vet visits! With this in mind, I thought this may put Trish to the test, as MissChif was unlikely to embrace this attention. However, that couldn’t have been further from the truth!
Trish engaged MissChif with distant Reiki initially and when it came to an ‘in person’ session, Trish visited our home and met MissChif for the first time. She greeted Trish like she was a long lost friend, which fascinated me, and she quickly settled at Trish’s feet, enjoying some hands on affection. During this session MissChif completely relaxed, choosing to lay flat out about a metre from Trish. As Trish moved closer, MissChif reached out and touched Trish’s hand with her paw, inviting Trish to take it. Paw embraced, this continued for the next 30 minutes or so, MissChif enjoying every moment. We have since had a further ‘in person’ session, which Shadow chose to muscle in on, and absolutely enjoyed. The delight and enjoyment these rejuvenating sessions bring are clear – thank you Trish.
