Axel attends rehabilitation sessions with us to help support his hip dysplasia. Here he is starting his session on the pulse electro magnetic field therapy mat (PEMF) helping to reduce any pain, inflammation or stiffness present. He then has a stretch out in the non-weight bearing environment of the pool, helping to improve joint mobility and increase musculature in the hindlimbs. Contact us today to find out how our services can support your pets needs🥰🐾

A common orthopaedic condition we see is a luxating patella. A condition whereby the kneecap (patella) dislocates or moves out of its normal position in the groove. This causes instability in the knee joint, leading to discomfort, limping, and difficulty in walking. The condition can be graded 1 to 4 mild to severe, ranging from the kneecap slipping back into place on its own to remaining permanently out of position, requiring manual correction or surgery. It’s more commonly seen in small dog breeds and can be caused by genetics or injury.

Hydrotherapy helps to support patients with a luxating patella by providing a low-impact exercise that helps to strengthen supporting muscles such as the quadriceps helping to stabilise, reduced joint strain through the properties of water, improved mobility and pain relief🐾💦

Now the weather is getting colder it is advisable to have a drying coat for after hydrotherapy sessions, this allows for the muscles and joints to stay warm post treatment. Please see some of our lovely patients modelling theirs🥰🐾

House of Hydro

House of Hydro has been brought about by a passion and belief in the benefits of Canine Hydrotherapy. Our aim is to enrich the life of every dog that enters House of Hydro.

Our purpose built 6m x 4m pool, has integrated ramps, both external and internal, together with a resting platform all of which are covered with anti-slip matting. The heated pool creates a relaxing and therapeutic environment for your dog to swim. This non-weight bearing exercise is captured by an underwater camera and displayed on our television screen allowing owners to see the full range of underwater motion of their dog. The recordings made can be shared with your vet if requested.

Here at House of Hydro your dog will be introduced to the water at their own pace and encouraged by the therapist and the owner to build up their confidence.

Buoyance aids and harnesses are provided and will be fitted correctly by the hydrotherapist. This ensures your dog’s experience within our centre is a positive and confident one.
