Hey all, first thank you for the support and motivation to keep going over the past few months ❤️

My name is Néidín and I already have an established pet services business (mainly dog walking) called for over two years now. Reactiv8 is a dream I’ve had for a very long time and have gained extensive knowledge of reactivity in dogs. This started 6 years ago when when I adopted my first eve

r reactive dog, Ryuu 🐶
Ryuu is a husky/beagle cross (pictured below) if you have any knowledge of either breeds then you will know both have very poor recall and high prey drive! I myself was not so knowledgeable 😬 Ryuu was ‘friendly’ but when he got a scent he was gone and there was times we searched hours for him. One good thing was he always found his way back 😂 it was because of this we then began to keep him on lead, naturally, however we lacked consistent training and he then became frustrated wanting to greet each dog. He had no dog manners and if he was off lead he would run full sprint at dogs then howl/bay, bouncing in the air profusely for them to play. As you can imagine this was overwhelming for a lot of dogs and resulted in a few incidents where he was snapped at or attacked (completely our fault!). Ryuu became slightly fearful and his frustration on lead grew. We then completely took him away from anywhere public including the streets and found places where we would meet no dogs or people. Instead of taking up more training with Ryuu and putting in some time to help him relax around other dogs whilst also working on recall. This also had a knock on effect on my other dog 😞

Then I stumbled across positive/reward based training, from there I just researched, read and grew my knowledge. I desperately wanted to help my boy and enjoy our walks, at this point it was just so much effort! Ryuu wasn’t an easy nut to crack 😂😬 and he definitely put me through my paces. He wasn’t food or toy motivated and he was so focused on his own anxieties that he was incapable of listening to direction. I wanted to build our relationship to understand his behaviour and learn how to communicate with him in a way that he would understand. Since then I’ve completed a dog training course with Robin Bates and Sandra Gilliland along with a dog handling course with dogs in rescue. From this I have been doing a lot of one on one training with reactive dogs. Ryuu attended Al Rankins Rowdy to Relaxed course, which not only helped him build confidence but gave me more knowledge and experience with reactivity. For years I have climbed over and under fences, through bushes and holes etc to find space where my dogs can run free, unfortunately these places don’t stay so hidden for long. This was my dream to have a space in my own community that not only gives a relaxed worry free environment for some off lead time but to build a network of support as it can be lonely being a reactive dog owner. Finally our own magic place 🙌🏻🐾🐶

Would you know how to deal with a dog attack? 🐶⚠️

Dogs don’t go around looking to attack others, and a well-socialised dog will not normally be actively aggressive towards other dogs 🙅‍♀️ But, any dog can become aggressive if they are afraid and feel there is no other way out of the situation.

This can be due to a current perceived threat or even past experience making them uncomfortable 😟

It can be really distressing if a dog becomes aggressive. Obviously your main concern is the welfare of your furry friend, but there are a few important things you need to do if your dog or a person is a victim of a dog bite.

Wow this years been busy, thank you once more to all the owners and dogs that have trusted in me, results don’t happen overnight and require consistency and motivation… this isn’t always easy but when you do persevere the results show!! So a big well done 💪🏻🫶🏻

I don’t share much on social media as I don’t get much time however I have now got some more space open up to take on some more training sessions 😁

This is not training or behavioural correction (whatever you want to call it)…. This is fear!!! Instilling further fear into a dog by this type of tactic is only going to lead to worse behavioural problems.

How would you feel if you had to suppress your natural reactions or responses due to fear??

Suppressing or feeling oppressed is never healthy or good in the long run… we all snap, break down, or meltdown mentally in some way.

We can teach boundaries, over come fears, learn new responses and gain a confident trusting relationship with our dogs without the need to ‘dominate’.

The dominant theory has long been debunked the studies are there. Would you feel safe, loved and your needs managed under dominance, suppression and force? Or would you feel much happier to learn, interact and trust with good leadership, patience and understanding?

We are humans, our dogs know we are humans, they definitely know we are not dogs, therefore to assert behaviours based on what other dogs ‘may’ do is ludicrous. This man is ludicrous. I mean how many times has he been bitten!!! That says it all really!

Positive, reward based training works every time… I have gained the trust of some extremely reactive dogs, gone on to build a relationship with these dogs and have overcame their fears.

Love and compassion will always prevail ♥️ 🐾

Some update info:

🔆The dog park has not reopened if it does I will update the page. I provide one to one dog training for all. Young, old, reactive or not 🐩

🐶For now I am only providing dog training services. I have had some really great success and have to give a big shout to the owners putting in the work and seeing the results 💪🏻

Changing behaviour and conditioning isn’t over night, some dogs pick things up quick and other take time. Just like us humans 😁

🆘🆘🆘 This was and still is the Dream 💭, to give the dogs the best stop gap living before going to their forever homes 🏠 🙏🏻
This was a labour of Love ❤️, love for the dogs .. set up with the best fencing and underground security to keep this magnificent breed safe , a few obstacles along the way meant it was ready for over 18 months before I could move the dogs here
Many times I wanted to give up But i thought how much they would love the new rescue and how beneficial it would be to their well being, it came at a big financial cost , very large loan , credit cards ,sale of household items and you the amazing public helped me make it happen 💕💕💕
I can’t loose this set up , the dogs needs it and so do I. I need the dogs as much as they need me 💔. I love what I do , yes it can be very stressful and emotionally draining at time s , but when u see a rescue dog living the best life in a new loving home it really is Priceless .. there is no feeling like seeing that dog being loved and treated how a dog should be treated 😇 that keeps me going

Update on our gorgeous Sen
Sen was a bouncy, excitable, typical Cockapoo. Sen was also a bit timid. Her owner ask if I could help do basic training so allow both them and Sen to enjoy nice walks without worrying that Sen might run off. Sen would run up to other dogs off lead, had no recall, pulled on lead and it was a chase to get her back on lead 😩🤣

So as a team we have worked on all these things and I added in a few more for safety 👌🏼

As you can see Sen will walk to heel without being promoted, she will stop when I stop and sit without asking, her recall is 100%, she can ignore passing dogs unless I release her to play, she sits to get her lead back on and walks like a dream on lead!! Sen will wait when asked and no longer jumps up uncomfortably when excited. At times she is still a bit timid but her confidence has grown so much and continues to do so 💪🏻

These are great foundations for Sen as she begins her adolescence. Sen is still her crazy little self but she knows now when she can express her energy and when to remain calm.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to train this little smart cookie 🍪

We achieved our goals using only reward based training and today we tested all Sens skills in a new environment… She Aced it! 🏆

Sen has been on training walks for a little over a month now, we started with loose lead training and have worked up to off lead walking. Sen is a bouncy beautiful smart cockapoo and still young so very easily distracted. This week we worked on off lead walking and passing other dogs calmly. Sen is doing fantastic, still learning but for her first try she did very well and broke away immediately when I called her! Well done Sen!!!

It’s been a while!! Apologies for the silence but most of you will know that unfortunately the private hire dog park had to close 😞

However I am hoping in the future I can bring this service back to north Belfast as I feel it is massively needed… so fingers crossed 🤞🏼

In the meantime I am offering my dog training services, these will be one to one sessions, working on basic training to behaviour issues. From puppy to the older dog. No dog is too old to learn 🙌🏻💪🏻

I have had great success in rehabilitating reactive dogs some of this is shared on the page already and I have some updates of recent successes coming soon.

My time and days are limited at the minute but I will do my best to fit you in asap 🫶🏻

6 month old Belgian Malinois cross German pointer 🐕 Stormy had a lot of lead frustration, being the breeds she is and wanting to just let her natural instincts lead her it was hard for her to understand how to walk calmly with so much stimulation. Stormy is Lead, Car, people reactive really anything that moves. This is typical of a dog of her breeds. Over the last week I have worked on building Stormys confidence, to allow her to trust me, and become comfortable in the outdoor environment. All pups just want to be free but sometimes it leads to frustration and negative associations. This is why it is so important that training starts in the home and continues to outside the home also. Look at Stormy now, whilst she still has a way to go lunging, snapping, pulling and biting (frustration) at the lead is almost eliminated. Being a pup she still gets distracted and eager to get to follow scents. Another very successful session using the best girl Luna 👏🏻 Sky (collie) is a very timid and nervous girl. Sky’s owner rescued her and soon found she was sadly a fearful little girl mainly of other dogs and men 😞 walks were not what her owner had anticipated and they both then retreated to early early morning quiet walks to avoid the triggers that would send sky into melt down, poor girl… after assessing sky and giving her and her owner some homework we have now done a few desensitisation sessions with my stooge doggies 🐩 Sky used to stare, freeze, spin and bark even from a fair distance when she seen a dog… Now look at her 😍 the progress is unbelievable and it shows the work her fabulous owner has been putting in with Sky 🙌🏻🥳 whilst she still has a bit to go I have every faith in not only Sky’s capability but her owners too!! We had a lovely chilled training session with Sebastian (GSD) and my stooge girl Luna, this evening 👏🏻 Sebastians owners have been working with him to desensitise him to his surrounds and other dogs on walks as he was becoming a frustrated greeter and walks were not as enjoyable. Sebastian has came on leaps and bounds (literally). Learning to be calm on lead and greet other dogs calmly whilst taking communication cues from other dogs very well!! Pepper (spaniel) has been on a journey, a timid girl who became very scared of almost everything outside of her home this wasn’t helped by lockdown.
