Well, January is well and truly underway and we are already working through an influx of surrender applications.
While we never judge individual circumstances, with animal welfare being our number one priority, we gently remind all keepers to make sure an animal surrender is the best option for their beloved pet.
We are a very small, non funded sanctuary that 4 of us run around our full time jobs and family commitments. We provide the very best we can for the animals in our care but this will not Include the one to one interactions at the same level your pet is receiving in a home environment. Our enclosures are also designed to be temporary, so while they meet the animals needs, they are not a "forever home" environment. We are currently operating at max capacity with a wait list, so while we aim to help you ASAP, this may take several weeks to months, depending on the nature of the surrender.
If you are struggling with your pet in the slow and dark slog that is January, please remember we are always open to discussing how to improve your pets environment and socialisation over messages or even a video call. We would much rather help you and your pet form a better relationship and provide a healthier environment for them at your home than have to bring them to our sanctuary.
We will always be here for those who desperately need to rehome their animal, but we are passionate about pets remaining in a loving home , with people they are used to and have formed attachments with. So please, do not hesitate to reach out to us for advice before deciding to rehome your pet, and if rehoming is the best outcome, then we will be happy to welcome them to our rescue,
