Pet memorial Day. We are remembering some of our own pets here in Gortlands. Please feel free to post a photo in memory of your pet below.
It's so hard to let them go but the love and memories live forever in our heart.

With the holidays fast approaching please check you pets medication levels. If they are due to run out over the holiday period we ask that you order them in good time (even if you collect them later) this is especially important for patients that are on controlled drugs (mainly painkillers, epilepsy and behavioural medication) as these take longer for us to order in.
Cuddly Cleo in for her spay procedure yesterday, she certainly won all the staff over 😊
Copper
This is gorgeous little Copper recovering after a routine surgical procedure. With an extra bit of help from Pet Remedy calming treatment we made sure he had the smoothest recovery possible... He looks pretty relaxed to me! ☺🥰
Tick after removal from a cat
This nasty not-so-little tick was removed from a cat's ear this morning. They embed their mouthparts into your pet and suck blood until they are full and will then drop off. Not very pleasant.
If you want to prevent this we have several products that can be used regularly. Just ask and we can advise you .
susan's dogs with eggbox
Here is Nessie, who belongs to one of our nurses, trying out the treat filled eggbox that one of our followers suggested. Hours of entertainment trying to get the treats to fall out ( just make sure they are supervised incase they try to eat the box!)
Ever wondered how fast a tick can move? Pretty fast is the answer! This one was removed from a cat's ear on Saturday. If you aren't sure if your pet is protected for ticks please ask .....they are nasty little creatures that carry disease and we really don't want them on our pets :(
Is your cat up to date with its vaccinations? If not remember to book them in soon to get their second vaccine free of charge :)
Is your cat up to date with its vaccinations?
We took this video of an ear mite recently removed from a pups ear ....you can see why they would drive your pet mad!
Ticks on Toby
Just in case you though that all the talk about ticks wasn't relevant to dogs in Northern Ireland ...here are some ticks removed this week from one of our patients- Toby. We were amazed at how fast the black one could move...
Honey had her puppies by Caesarian on 3rd April ...they were in this week for the vaccinations . Look how much they have grown!
Have you ever wondered about ticks ? They can be picked up by your pet from grassy areas and can cause irritation and carry disease.....look out for more information this week on how to prevent them .
Meet Poppy , a happy bunny who was in for her vaccine but was checking out the consulting room table :)
Meet Henry the hamster and his two pals Alfie and Poppy.
Henry was in recently to have a lump removed that was nearly the same size of him! He is all healed up and had his stitches remove earlier this week.
Here is Cooper, showing off what he has learnt at our puppy class .....its amazing what such young pups can learn so quickly :)
For those of you with the day off, take a leaf out of this dog's book, relax and enjoy!
Did you know that Gortlands is a ' Royal College Accredited Practice?' This means that we adhere to certain standards and are inspected regularly which should help to give you peace of mind when entrusting your pet to our care. This short video explains it a bit more and is well worth watching.
