PUPPY ALERT 📢
Izzy and Tarot came in last week for their vaccinations. How cute are they ?! 🥰

We love seeing our patients for vaccinations because we get cuddles and they get treats (a nose to tail examination too🤫)What is there not to love?

Vaccinations are a great way to help protect our pets from diseases🦠 Dog vaccines help protect against diseases like leptospirosis, hepatitis, distemper and canine parvovirus. Cat vaccines assist in protecting our cats from diseases like feline leukaemia virus, feline parvovirus, herpes virus and calicivirus ! 🩺

If you are wondering if your pet is due a vaccination or have any questions please contact us !

Everyone meet our star of the week⭐️Teddy⭐️

The most bouncy, happy, smiley little doggo in town🐶 Each week Teddy bounces through the door to see us and loves to show off all of the new tricks he's learned - and get plenty of treats and cuddles of course! This week he had his annual vaccination with our vet Emma and was enjoying his treats so much he didn't even notice💉

There's never a dull day with you around Teddy☀️

🦷🪥With Pet Dental Health Month coming up in February, we thought it was a good time to raise awareness of a common problem we see in our canine patients. Many dogs love to chew and they may be given hard items like bones, antlers and hard toys to help keep their teeth clean. However, these objects can lead to fractures of otherwise healthy teeth, which require surgical treatment. We have attached a photo of a recent case where both carnassial teeth were fractured, in an otherwise very healthy mouth. As a rule, it is safest to supervise any chewing activity and ensure the item is not harder than the tooth - you should be able to indent the item with a fingernail. They should also avoid tennis balls as these can cause serious abrasions of the teeth over time; smooth rubber balls are preferred.

Toothbrushing is an ideal way to keep your pets' teeth healthy, and there are also many other types of products available to help - look for products approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) which are demonstrated to be safe and effective. Our vets and nurses are always happy to give advice on how best to look after your pets' teeth. 🪥🦷

Do you recognise me?🐈

This lovely young female cat has been wandering gardens in the Sandbed Lane area of Belper on and off for around a year. She has spent much more time around the area recently and has been sleeping in garages during the stormy weather. She is not wearing a collar and she is not microchipped. She has been checked by one of our vets and is in good condition. She looks to be well cared for so we are hoping that someone out there recognises her. She is back with the finder who kindly brought her in but please contact the surgery on 01773829544 with any information that we can share with the finder.
