Why microchip?

1,515 days after Molly went missing she has been found 35 1/2 miles from her home.

You may have seen our post a few days ago about a cat hanging around Haggerston Castle Holiday Park, well so did Molly's owner. Not daring to hope it was Molly over 4 years after going missing, still her owner who never gave up hope, sent us a message last night.

Animal Welfare Officer, Gemma, from Northumberland County Council was up in Berwick today and popped by with a scanner for us. And the rest as they say is history.

Gemma put Molly into her van and an hour after her owner received the news, these pictures are the result.

A great update from Cai & Benji - They have the offer of a new

If all goes to plan these two will be going to a farm very similar to the one they came from.

We think we have been in contact with everyone who applied. Hopefully everything goes to plan but if there are any hitches we may be back in contact.

Thank you to everyone who made positive comments, spread the word, understood the situation both ourselves and the owner were experiencing and to those who offered the chance of a home.

Their owner really appreciates all you did to help her keep these two safe.



Please spread the word on all rescues needing to rehome animals. Without animals in rescues finding homes there is no room for those others in need.

You really need to watch the whole video and with the sound on.

Kassuku gets pretty much free reign of the office most morning and is not happy waiting while the chins have a bit of free time and is making his feelings perfectly clear. All I'm saying if you didn't find the chins tails so 'interesting' you could all be out together. Just saying Kassuku!

Just not the update we wanted to make this morning.

Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we just can't save them.

Sadly, Jasmine became unwell on Tuesday. She was at the vets Tuesday night for initial meds and spent the full day there Wednesday. Despite our staff staying in kennels and caring for her over night we sadly lost Jasmine.

Jen, thank you so much for making sure our precious Jasmine wasn't alone. That adds a lot of comfort to an awful awful situation.

Help Erin Lawrence raise money to support B.A.R.K.

We took a phonecall from a vets at the weekend about a 1 year old labrador, Buddy, who was due to be put to sleep. On hearing the immediate circumstances around him biting a young child, we felt we should help.

Sadly, when Buddy arrived with us and we asked more questions about his life leading up to the event, it became clear that Buddy is a really good boy who has been having a really hard time at home having been punched and kicked for months by a child in the family and has done his absolute best up until now to not harm anyone. But being held in a head lock and trying his best to escape finally his spirit was broken.

Buddy is going to take time to decompress and understand that he will never come into harms way again.

Today, one of the staff managed to swap out his harness for a new one. Purchased with the donations left at DirectPets for us. Doesn't he look pleased with it!

Please, no enquiries about Buddy. He will be on the website when he is ready. We will do everything for him to help aid his mental recovery. If that takes a week or a year, we will be here helping him.

Thank you, as always, for allowing us to be in the position we are to help animals like Buddy. Your support means absolutely everything to us and our animals.

Any posts aiming hatred at his previous family will be removed, we are sure you understand.

You can't get better than the BARK staff.

One of the girls has volunteered to camp out in the Hop Inn tonight to tend to a poorly rabbit.

Rabbits are extremely sensitive and get stressed easily, being home is the best thing for them when they are poorly, if they are able to be. What's also important is that she is syringe fed every 4 hours and has her meds on time when they are required, of course, typically, these won't line up with feed times!

So thank you to our incredible staff member who is putting our animals before herself, again. (Just one of many offers too). Sleep well! You're the best!

The owner of Benji and Cai is touched by all the kind comments and support for help. She now feels there is a light at the end of what has been a very dark tunnel. We have been in contact with various rescues who sadly like ourselves just have no capacity. We have received a few applications offering possible homes and one possible rescue back up and these have been forwarded on to the owner and she has already followed these up. The owner is doing everything possible to keep them safe and we will continue to support them by taking all possible enquiries.

Life or death emergency rehoming needed - Ideally a rescue space but these two are running out of time the owner will consider any responsible home.

The situation for Cai and Benji is urgent - if they do not find a home by the end of the month they will be put to sleep as there is no where for them to go. We have no space, rescues are full everywhere.

Benji and Cai have found themselves looking urgently for a new home due to tragic circumstances and no fault of their own. Benji is 8 years 3 months and Cai is 6 years and 9 months and have the same parents and are Kelpie Collie crosses. Both are very sweet and sociable pair. They have lived with children and were brought up with cats. The are good with other dogs if a little 'over friendly'.
