👉 Toss a load of dried herbs into some straw or leaves, then throw in with your fuzzy for them to sniff & explore.
👉 Great way to use up old dried herbs (we always have so many 🙈).

What’s one of the most commonly expressed worries we hear? 🤔
“I want to hibernate my Tortoise, but terrified something will go badly wrong”.
🐢 We understand this one completely. The wild environment naturally balances everything a Tortoise needs before going into hibernation.
🐢 However captivity often comes with a whole host of Influencing external factors & variables, all of which can add a spanner to the works when hibernating.
🐢 Because of this, we are then overwhelmed with conflicting advice on the subject.
What the solution?
Some specialist exotic vets such as Battle Flatts Avian and Exotic Services offer pre-hibernation checks to make sure your Tortoise is in a suitable condition to go ahead.

Take from areas where they are less likely to be contaminated by pollution etc & bake at 100°C 🔥 for around half an hour to remove bacteria 🦠
🐇 Rabbits & Guinea pigs - Add food or treats into leaves or add herbs for extra sensory treat.
🐢 Reptiles – Pop bugs inside for Bearded Dragons & Leopard Geckos & add bright (safe) flowers for Tortoises.
🦜 Parrots – Hide nuts & seeds inside for an exciting foraging activity.
🍂Could also be used as a temporary natural substrate 🍁

Filtered water for pets? Is it ‘better’ than tap water? 🤔💦
Water sources found in nature contain essential minerals such as calcium & magnesium 💧
The types & quantites of minerals varies vastly depending on location across the globe 🌏
Each species living in an area will have evolved to utlise the unque combination of naturally occurring minerals found in their local water supply 🚰
House tap water contains minerals which can be highly beneficial to health 🏠
However it also contains additional chemicals such as chlorine & fluoride.
U.K. tap water is strictly regulated & deemed safe for human consumption.
However what we don’t know is the potential effects these additional chemicals could potentially have on our animals.
We already know Reptiles & Parrots are much more sensitive to artificial toxins in the environment.
However at the present, the research simply isn’t there.
We generally only provide water for animals from a filter which uses activated carbon.
That way some of the chemicals are removed but minerals left in.
Alternatively water that is left out for 24hours uncovered will naturally ‘dechlorinate’.

Flipping Pancakes with a Cast Iron Pan 😆🍳
Because our house is typically full of animals, we don’t use any form of coated pan & instead opt for natural materials only.
This thing weighs a bloody ton so I think we did a pretty good job all things considered 🙈
