June is National Microchipping Month! 🐱🐶

Run by The Kennel Club through the Petlog website, it’s a month long event to bring awareness to the importance of keeping your pets safe by having them microchipped, but also keeping the details up to date!

A microchip is the size of a grain of rice 🍚 and can be implanted by your vet or a trained microchip implanter. It’s quick, easy and lasts a lifetime.

It is a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped and the UK government announced last year the intention to make it law for all cats too 👮‍♀️

It’s National Rescue Dog Day 🐶

There are so many dogs that end up in rescue centres and when they get full, they have no choice but to let some dogs be put down 😭

Both of our dogs are from rescue, and the centres we went to were fab, we’ve continued to seek advice from them when we’ve needed it.

So, if you’re thinking about getting a dog, go visit your local rescue centre first!

🐶Charlie’s Story🐶

Born in Ireland 15th August 2016, one of six pups in the litter, known as Swift Galloway (Gazza) came over to England to race at Yarmouth and later at Doncaster.

Gazza ran his first race on 17th February 2018, at A3 level (later racing in the fastest level A1) and came third. In total he ran 78 races, won 13, came 2nd 8 times and in 3rd an amazing 24 times!! A top athlete, placing in the top 3 57% of the time 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃

His last race was 21st March 2020 just before lockdown after which he retired from racing to start his new career as a loving pet!

We rescued him from 16th September 2020, renaming him Charlie and he’s been stealing snacks and space on the sofa ever since 😂

I’m sure we’ve all seen the cartoon Tom & Jerry, heard the expression to “fight like cats and dogs”, or the proverbs “The cat is mighty dignified until the dog comes by” and “The cat and dog may kiss, but are none the better friends.”🐱🐶
