Who needs a scratching post when you have a mare in seasons bottom …hey Jim ?
Oops it looks like Hannah has been hacked…. Hopefully be back up and running soon!
We love to see the horses happy and enjoying their tree selection.
One of the liveries sent me this video last night. Love seeing the horses use the shelter.
Food Recommendations please!
What can you recommend that what is low sugar, ethically grown & manufactured but very palitable. Dundee doesn’t need a bucket feed other than getting his Calm & Healthy Horses supplements into him.
It’s not only the horses that love our sand pit, George is owned by Dundee’s owner and is here every day with her. George is a little rescue shihtzu and is getting braver each day and happier as he gets comfortable around the horses. He loves a bit of horse poop and is either rolling in it or eating it 🙈
Yesterday baby Drifter had an escort round one of the fields. She is a little anxious and tends to rush to get home , however, today with the super chilled Dundee she took it all in her stride and without a tantrum !
More on getting to know the ponies in future posts! #tracklivery #barefootponies #tracklife
Let’s talk about nettles ….
Nettles have an amazing nutrient profile being high in calcium, magnesium and zinc to name but a few.
Nettle is a lively plant, and a strengthening tonic to the whole body.
It can be feed to help with sweet itch, laminitis, arthritis and rheumatism.
Dundee and Tilly are the newest to the herd and have settled in nicely. Even when they are sharing the hay not so nicely - They love each other really !
We are now ready for another herd member to join the track. Contact Hannah for more information.
A little bit on our hedges …. Excuse the wind over powering my voice , the weather was crazy yesterday !
A quick hack to improve fitness with bertie and raz after a schooling session
All too often we hear a clatter of hooves and a glimpse of Arthur cantering or trotting down the hill. He does it without warning and I've never been able to video it yet. However this evening both he and Dundee were keen to get to their hay and we got to see some high speed on the track. Safe to say I think the gravel and the hill are winning features.
Today Bertie is back to being nearly sound. Also the medicine boot has arrived. So he is wearing that and going back out onto grass. I'd put him on the track, but our Hill has a nice water feature at its base which be one of next years fit it tasks. But I thought I could see Bertie getting the neoprene boot wet in it and thought that defeated the object and I couldnt face Arthur's disappointed looks if I closed the hill off, in good weather conditions. So the desision was made to put Bertie in a grass field and re-access him in the morning.
Sadly for Bertie it is back to the stable and the poultice needed re-applying to his hoof. A medicine boit has been purchased and will hopefully arrive tomorrow. Then when he is more sound he can be turned back out onto the track to finish the final bit of healing. Bertie wasn't impressed with my desision.
The 2nd post which includes the video of Bertie greeting his friends. Sadly I miss him cantering up the hill.
It was poo sample day to day, the lovely Dundee was last to go so I got a chance to sit and chill with him on the track while he foraged in the hedge and the grass verge. His owner is often worried about him finding too much grass, however it was nice to be able reassure her that today he was looking for and enjoying thistles. I love watching horses eating thistles and how careful they can select what they want. Sadly Dundee is great at this and regularly doesn't select his mineral in his hard feed which are very beneficial to him. But hey ho it was nice seeing this skill used for good.
Play fight
I love it how the hill is the perfect place on a wet and windy day for a play fight!!
Tilly
It's nice to see our new livery Tilly making good use of our brushes.
