I didn't think I'd be making another business update so soon! 🙂

Sadly due to a knee injury, I'm unable to drive or work with most medium to large breed dogs safely.

I'm currently unsure of the recovery timeline, but will provide updates as soon as I know more.

🌐 In the meantime, all training sessions and classes are moving to online only! More details will be made available soon 😊

📩 Please check your emails if you had booked a training session for 2026 already.

🎉 Huge congratulations to the last puppy class of 2025! 🎉

A truly diverse group of pups, each had unique preferences and temperaments, meaning their guardians got to see lots of adjustments in training.

The pup who just had to keep moving 🕺
The pup who needs breaks & rest between exercises 💤
The pup who needs to explore 🥾
The pup who needs to watch first 👀
The pup who will do anything for food 🤤
The pup who likes to focus and apply herself 🤓

Everyone had a really wonderful time, had brilliant questions to ask and supported their puppies into learning the foundation skills.

Yet again, I'm feeling truly humbled and grateful by the wonderful clients I have the privilege to instruct, who dedicate themselves to raise their dogs with kindness and compassion 😍 Thank you puppy class graduates, I wish you the best continuation & lots of wonderful adventures!

Is your dog ready for Halloween? 👻

Each year, we set-up a Trick or Treat station for the children in our neighbourhood.

Many dogs can find the constant coming and going on Halloween night worrying, not to mention the spooooky costumes! It is best to keep all dogs away from the entrance if you are going to open the door to trick-or-treaters.

Autumn is a difficult time for many dogs: Clocks going back, random fireworks throughout October-January, walks in the dark, Halloween (then Christmas), costumes, etc.! Please keep your dogs safe 😉

As one of our dog's is a sensitive collie x shepherd, we invite the children to pick their own treats. It's worked really well for us, and I have to say I do enjoy setting up a spooky station 😆

The dogs will stay upstairs with music, an Adaptil diffuser, and some enrichment to keep them occupied under the supervision of my SO while I go entertain puppy class! 😈

😍 Hip hip hooray for these Ingenious Puppy Class graduates! 😍

Huge congratulations & thanks to this amazing group of puppy guardians, who have completed their puppy class earlier this week! 🎉

You all worked really hard, took it all in, asked excellent questions, and were just all around wonderful to instruct. Your pups have grown so much during the class, and learned new skills, overcame insecurities and developed A+ social skills. I'm very much looking forward to your further adventures & progress 😀

I moved to Berlin for work and felt lonely in a new city. One rainy Saturday I wandered into a Tierheim, a German animal shelter. The place surprised me. It was clean and calm. Volunteers knelt by kennels, speaking softly in German and English. A sign on the wall explained that, by law, shelters here do not put down healthy animals. Only if an animal is very sick or dangerous to people can a vet consider euthanasia. Otherwise, every life is protected.

A small dog watched me from the back of a kennel—brown ears, worried eyes. “That’s Momo,” a volunteer said. “He needs time. No rush. He can stay here as long as he needs.” She told me Momo had been found tied to a fence. In other places he might have run out of time. Here, time was the gift.

I sat on the floor. Momo crept forward, tail low. We didn’t do much—just breathing and treats and patience. By the third visit his tail wagged like a tiny flag. “He chooses you,” the volunteer laughed.

The day I took Momo home, the staff handed me a folder with medical records, training tips, and their phone number for questions anytime. As we left, Momo paused at the door, as if to say goodbye to the people who believed he was worth saving.

Now he naps by my desk and greets neighbors like they are old friends. When people ask how we found each other, I say: in Germany, shelters protect life—and that safety gave us a chance to become a family.

Gina and I had the best time at DogX with PACT 😁

Interesting talks & demonstrations, familiar faces i finally got to meet in-person, a lovely venue, delicious plant-based food, and - not least of all - super engaging discussions with Gina on the drive there and back 😂

I'm feeling really privileged to be part of such an amazing community of dog trainers (& behaviourists)! 🥰

Puppy owners have been playing dress-up for week 4 of puppy class 😁

An important element of puppy socialisation involves familiarising pups to all the weird items people might wear or carry.

Summer puppies might find it unnerving how people dress in the winter, and vice versa.

In their session, the puppies got to experience sun glasses, beanies, big winter coats, and a high-vis vest, hose, rolling suitcase and cane, as well as exploring wobbly items.

They also practised refocusing around distractions and the start of walking on the leash. Go puppies 🥳

Image descriptions:

Photo 1: A person in a red beanie and high-vis vest is walking with their cocker spaniel, both are looking at each other. There are items around them, including a half gutter on the floor filled with colourful cups.

Photo 2: Two people are dressed in winter coats indoors and wearing sunglasses. They are both smiling at the camera. A golden retriever puppy is drinking from a water bowl, and a cockerpoo is watching the golden with curiosity.

Photo 3: The same people, now dressed normally, and puppies are training in a different area of the hall. Both puppies are seen turning toward their handlers, who arr ready to reward them.

Photo 4: Another golden retriever is walking indoors with the leash trailimg on the floor while looking up at their handler.

Photo 5: The first golden retriever is neing given a treat reward for walking next to her handler.

Photo 6: The cockerpoo is walking in a relaxed manner next to her handler.

📖 Behavior Term Tuesday ➡ ➡ Bribery

Bribery in animal training refers to when a treat, toy, or other reward is shown before the animal performs the desired behavior, with the intent of coaxing them into compliance. Bribery is frequently confused with reinforcement and luring.

Many people assume that any use of food, toys, or rewards is “bribing” the animal, when in fact, most reinforcement-based training uses rewards after the behavior has been performed, which is reinforcement, not bribery.

While the word “bribery” gets tossed around a lot, it rarely reflects what’s truly happening in a well-structured training plan. More often, it’s simply a misunderstanding of the difference between showing a reward too soon versus using reinforcement effectively.

Scientists at Cornell University have just discovered something extraordinary about dogs' brains, something that's never been found in any other species, including humans.

Dogs have a direct neural motorway connecting their sense of smell to their visual processing centre. They literally "see" with their noses.

Dr Pip Johnson was mapping neural pathways in dogs' brains when she found it. Using advanced MRI scans on 23 dogs, she expected to find the usual smell-to-memory connections that most mammals have.

Instead, she found massive information superhighways she'd never seen before.

"I just kept finding these huge pathways," she says. "They seem like information freeways running from the nose back into the brain."

Sniffing is a dog welfare need. 🥰
