Problem puppy to tame teenager in 5 weeks.

I have had amazing results so far.
This is what Jamie, one of my attendees had to say about my classes;

‘Harriet was lovely and would definitely recommend her to anyone. Gave us homework every week with easy to follow tasks which has definitely improved my dog’s obedience on and off lead. I appreciate the feedback she gave each class. The class sizes were small, meaning I felt I got personal pointers, and my dog was much calmer’ – Jamie & Zelda

In 2011, Fenton the Labrador become an internet sensation.
I don't know if you saw the video on youtube where a dog is chasing a deer at Richmond park and all you can hear is the owner screaming his name.
'Fenton, Fenton, Fenton' while running after him.

We have all been there.
It must have been so embarrassing for his owner.

A couple of weeks ago, same thing happened at Richmond Park but it was a Spaniel.
Sadly, the poor deer had to be put to sleep after suffering fatal injuries.

I thought after Fenton incident, owners would have learnt to put their dogs on lead especially around deer.
It is far too tempting for a Spaniel.

Recall is one of the things that most Spaniel owners struggle with.
Watch the video for my top tips;

I cover recall games in my classes.
If you would like to sign up, then apply today.
I only have one space for evening and daytime class left.

Meet Harley
I saw this gorgeous boy and his lovely owner on his 1-2-1 assessment.
I covered lead pulling, whistle training and spaniel games on walks.

He is definitely going through the teenage stage. Can’t wait to see Harley again at my teen classes!

In August 2014, six months after having my daughter.
I launched my business.
I started as a dog walker.

I had family members telling me that 'I would never make any money'.
I was determined to prove them wrong.
I saved up and brought myself a car.

It was a blue VW Golf.
I named her 'Arabella'.
The song 'Arabella' by the Arctic Monkeys was on the radio, when I went to pick her up.
Yes I am one of those people who name their car.
She did me well over many miles.
Unfortunately she is not with us anymore.
She is over the scrapheap in the sky.

The reason, I am telling you this story is.......
Today, it is National Underdog day.
So if you have someone constantly telling you that you can't control your dog or that you won't be able to teach your spaniel to walk nicely on a loose lead.

Help is here.
Apply for your space at my teenage classes in January 2025.
I only have a few spaces left so you need to book to avoid disappointment.

Today is 'pretend to be a time traveller day.
I have often wondered what it would be like to jump in the tardis and time travel as David Tennant's assistant as he is my favourite Doctor.
You may or may not agree but he did make me laugh.

I do believe that everything happens for a reason but a part of me would love to go back in time and fix a few mistakes especially when I first got Finn.

What would I have done differently?
Well, how long have you got?..........
Lots of mistakes..........

The first one was I spent a lot of time teaching him trick training like a spin and middle instead of teaching him important stuff like stay and heel position.
I just expected him to know how to walk on the lead properly but of course he didn't.
When he hit the teenage stage, he pulled like a train and he chewed the lead so it was like having a tug of war on the street.

Walking him was a nightmare.
I was embarrassed and frustrated.
Rightly so, as I had created my own nightmare.

Then I read 'The dog Vinci Code' by the late John Rogerson.
Everything changed.
Finn started to listen to me.
I went on many dog training courses and the rest is history.

It is okay to make mistakes.
We are all human.
To get results, most of the time, we need to do things differently.

That's what I had to do with Finn.
I could have read the book and not done anything
But my nightmare would have got worse.

It's the same for you.
Action achieves results.

if you want to achieve results.....
Sign up for January teen class intake.
I only have a few spaces left.
Do not wait until after Christmas, you will be disappointed.

Today is National Santa List Day, it celebrates the day that Santa puts together his list of naughty and nice children. It’s also a day for kids to start working on their Christmas wish lists.

My Daughter, Scarlett has already sorted out her wish list.
She has been really good at school so I would say she is on the nice list.

Finn, my eldest dog is generally pretty good but he has his moments like any dog, so I would put him on the nice list.

Rose is going through the teenage stage.
She may be a cute Spaniel but she can be a bit naughty.
Lately, she has been making some good progress.
Ever since I have found my secret weapon............
Liver paste.
She goes nuts for it....
I wouldn't be surprised if she has asked Santa for some more 😂
Watch the video

It's not that long until Christmas.
I haven't got that many assessments slots left.
If you wanted to get your dog on the nice list before Xmas.

Lucky for you,
As I felt in the Xmas spirit, I have opened some more slots.
You will need to act fast to avoid disappointment.

25/11/2024

On Friday, I took my Spaniel Rose to Pets at Home.
It was a bit of a panic trip as I run out of ferret food (yes, I have 2 crazy ferrets).
So, I thought I would kill 2 birds with one stone and do some training with Rose to test her on distractions.

It was a busy than I was expecting.
We got out of the car and I let Rose take in her surroundings.
I did some sniffing games with her.
I was able to get some eye contact from her.
Rose was a mixture of being really excited and nervous.
She was a little scared of the trolleys.

There was a few people who were really keen to say hello,
I had to stop that as I could see she was getting a bit overwhelmed.
I put her in between my legs so she could feel safe.
This is exactly the sort of greeting I discuss in my classes.

Overall, her lead walking was pretty good around pets at home.
I did let her pick a toy as she was so good.

Sometimes training doesn't always go to plan.
You have to look at the positives and what you would do better.

I will be going again in a few weeks to build on what we did.
I think I would pick a time when it is less busy.
She had so much to deal with but did really well.

Most of what i did, I cover in my classes.
My next intake is in January 2025.
Spaces are going fast.

Last Thursday, my daughter Scarlett turned 11 years old.
She is growing up really fast.
Not a teenager yet but definitely has the attitude of one.
Moody for no real reason.
My baby girl has gone.

This feeling is similar when our cute puppy turns into a teenage troublemaker.
Recall goes out of the window.
Pulling like a steam train.
You feel like you have lost all control.
You think to yourself, what have I done wrong.

Thankfully the teenage stage doesn't last for long but sometimes it feels like a nightmare.
I have felt like that with my dog, Finn and sometimes with Rose.
There is light at the end of tunnel.

You need the right help, dedicate some time and be consistent.
Why not start now.........
