In conclusion, this study shows that the risk of cranial cruciate ligament disease in dogs is linked to how long they are exposed to natural s*x hormones, and the relationship isn’t simple or linear. The highest risk was seen when females were spayed before about 1054 days (just under 3 years) and males before about 805 days (a little over 2 years). These results may help define what counts as “early” spay or neuter when it comes to cranial cruciate ligament disease risk.

Veterinary reproduction specialists now recommend hormone-preserving sterilization: preventing unwanted litters & less risk of torn cruciates.

As you are probably aware, I have recently changed the business name to 'Spaniel Tamer'.
A few people have asked if anything will change and will I still be running classes.

Well, nothing will change apart from being more spaniel focused.
You should expect more of the same, such as real life training, fun, putting your spaniel's needs first, relationship and confidence building.

I will be kicking off with puppy and teen classes in September.
Evening classes are FULL, one space for daytime.
If you would like to grab the last space then apply today, otherwise you will need to wait until November for the next intake.

I will be running a Spaniel workshop in October, this will be focusing on getting that all important laser-focus when you are out and about.
It will be on a Saturday and last for about 1 hour and half.
If you have a spaniel that gets over-excited and is more interested on dogs, birds and people than you then, this might be exactly what you need.

This is such a important skill to teach your spaniel especially if you want to take your spaniel to different distracting environments. Try to do this at the end your walk. Find a nice spot, ask your spaniel to sit or lay down. Put your feet on the end of the lead for safety. Start to do this for 5 minutes and gradually do it for longer

It was 11 years today, that I started Pawtastic Gundog Adventures.
I thought it would be a good time to share with you, the reason why I started my business.
Why don't you grab yourself a brew and I will tell you.

In 2013, I found out that I was pregnant, while training to be a veterinary nurse. When I had my daughter, Scarlett I realised I didn't want to go back. I didn't want to work 45-50 hours and bring up a baby.

I wanted to be hands on mum so when Scarlett was 6 months old. I bravely started the business. Everything I do is for my daughter. I hope one day she will be proud of me.

The business has changed so much since I started.

Originally, the business was named 'Pawtastic Petsitting', then in 2021 I rebranded to Pawtastic Gundog Adventures.

i have gone from dog walker to professional dog trainer and also in 2023, I moved from Croydon to Bexhill.

My mission is to help and support Spaniel owners through the tricky teenage stage so owners don't have to resort to the heart- breaking decision to rehome their dog.

I know all to well how hard it is managing a teenage dog. My dog, Finn was a complete nightmare when he was going through the teenage stage. He would jump up at everyone he met, he pulled like a train, ignoring me and to top it off recall was non-existent. I felt like a failure.

There was light at the end of tunnel.
Finn is now 6 years old and I am always getting compliments of how well -behaved he is.

My youngest, Rose my working Springer Spaniel has just hit the teenage stage so I am going through the same challenges.

That's why I developed my 'tame your teen' formula which has now transformed lives of many frustrated Spaniel owners.

Now the time has come, to have another rebrand.
The business name once again is changing...................
Today on the 11th birthday, i am going to exclusively announce the new name....................
Drum roll .....................
'Spaniel Tamer'

The new name will reflect my new service.
I will be offering Spaniel styling and will start taking grooming bookings from September.
