Missy is a gorgeous two year old Mastiff cross Cane Corso. She came in at just 8 months old and had been with us ever since 💔. She is just 2 years old and we really want to see her thriving in a suitable home. We think the only reason she is still with us is because of her size. Big dogs cost a lot to feed and it’s a difficult time for people right now.

But if you do have the means and experience with large breeds and are looking for a new addition, please get in contact. She needs a strong handler, as she herself is a strong girl and will need her training continuing. She has been doing amazingly well with our volunteers who have taken on her training and has mellowed a lot. She really would love to find her furever family, as she has so much love to give. No young children as she hasn’t been brought up around them and is very unaware of her size and strength. She is such a sweet, gorgeous and cuddly girl.

I am writing this post as an appeal to potential adopters of fosterers for Snowy. I met some of you at the open day and many of you were saddened to see him still in kennels. He has been in the kennels since he was just 8 months old, when his owner got sick and he is soon to be turning 3 years old.

We are looking for someone experienced with managing resource guarding issues to take him on. Or else someone that has time and is interested in furthering their dog training/behavioural knowledge by working closely following strict instructions for his training. This could be a foster placement, which would be very helpful as he shows none of his resource guarding issues at the kennels, so he needs to be in a home environment for us to work through them.

Dogs like Snowy are often trapped in the kennel system as they can’t be rehomed with children, which severely limits their options. Snowy has lived with cats, but they tend to avoid him and has to be separated any time food is around, as he resource guards. So it is better if there are no cats in the home to avoid any issues. He is looking for a home with no more than two adults and both must be experienced or willing to work together with training. Snowy has previously bonded with some members of the family but not others, therefore both members of the household would have to put in an equal share of his training and maintain boundaries.

Snowy needs a home in a quiet/rural location. This is due to his fear of strangers, resulting in reactivity. This does not show up at the sanctuary once he is settled (as it is rural and not many people pass us on walks), but he was reactive when he first came back from his last home for a couple of weeks and in urban areas where there are lots of people walking by. He needs a slow introduction to new people and plenty of time to adjust in his new home before he goes on any exciting (overstimulating) adventures.

He is not the kind of dog you can take to cafe’s or to a friend’s for tea. But he is the most loving cuddle bug who thrives when given everything he needs to feel safe and secure.

Please only apply if you meet the requirements and can offer Snowy what he needs. I know there is that perfect person out there for him. We are just having trouble finding them. Please share this post for us and let’s find Snowy his person.

Rex 🦴

Approx 18-24 month old - labrastaff (Labrador X staffie)

Rex has found himself with us through no fault of his own. He has the loving nature of the lab and the excitable loyal nature of the staff - he is an absolute gem with soft melty brown eyes!

He’s still young so he’s into everything full throttle but he aims to please and learns very quickly. He is superb on lead and checks himself regularly to make sure he’s going at your speed. He loves his food, toys, games and lap cuddles.

He would suit an active household willing to put the time and effort in to continue training and keep him mentally stimulated. He may be able to be homed with another resident dog (subject to careful introductions) but he would also thrive on his own as he loves the attention all to himself!
Can be around dog savvy children age 8 upwards
Not cat tested

• Is accepting of bathing and brushing
• Enjoys walks, food, toys, games
•not shown any signs of aggression or resource guarding

With the weather so warm today the dogs at Barby Keel were keeping cool with a choice of pupsicles 👅 we had fish fantasy, veggie va-va-voom and banana bonanza … bon appetit!!

After almost 1 year of muzzle training, we have finally been able to support Ashley is comfortably wearing a muzzle! This has been a very long journey and is not over yet but let’s celebrate a massive win for this fantastic boy and our amazing volunteers!

Today Missy went on a day trip for 1-2-1 time to learn some off lead recall, boundary games and spacial awareness. Missy put her heart and soul into it and came back with a 🌟
Our volunteers are working hard to get her trained up but Missy is still looking for her forever home, could you be the one?
