We worry about heatstroke, and rightly so! Temperatures like we are seeing this week are dangerous for many pets.

Fly strike is another potential summer hazard. A dog with diarrhoea, especially if hairy can get a dirty bottom! And that’s how the process begins. Maggots can burrow through skin and make a pet so seriously ill. So check those bottoms and keep them clean!

🐾🫶 Play indoors rather than a walk..its safer!!

As usual we are risk assessing this week’s walks as the temperature has already spiked today. ⬆️

Predicted temperatures for tomorrow are 28/30 degrees. 🥵

I will shorten walks or swop to home visits if owners are out. If you are home and do not need your walk please let us know and I will concentrate on those home alone.

Cancellation fees will not apply!

I can't express how I am feeling personally about today and how my heart is just breaking with every post I am seeing on social media, many already losing their lives due to the idiots that run this country who have no idea about dogs.

PLEASE SHARE FOR URGENT RESCUE SPACE.
Caneo is a very big two year old Corso, but thankfully a very big dope. He is sweet with everyone he meets and has tested well with other dogs (has lived with another dog). We also know he lives with several children which I mention only to give indication of his lovely personality.
Caneo was an emergency intake yesterday along with the dog he lived with, we can’t go into details on social media, but there was no choice but to take the dogs in the situation they were in despite being full.
We are looking for a RESCUE who can take this chap on, prepare him for homing and find him the home that he needs.
We are gridlocked, PLEASE SHARE

STOP expecting your dog walker to be your dog trainer.

Whilst a dog walker should be fluent in dog body language, be capable of following your dog’s training plan, and work alongside your trainer- they ARE NOT a trainer.

Hiring a dog walker is NOT a cheaper option to a dog trainer, and it is YOUR responsibility to train your dog to keep everyone safe.

Value your dog walker. As someone who did the job for years- it’s hard! Owner’s can make it easier by putting in the work with basics, like lead walking and recall. If you’re unsure with this, hire a trainer!

Dogs can’t cool themselves down as easily as we can as they’re unable to sweat like us. Instead, they mainly use panting to keep cool. Coupled with their thick fur (which is like wearing an insulated coat!), this can make them prone to overheating. 🌡️ It’s important to do all we can to keep our furry friends cool, to prevent serious illnesses such as heatstroke 🐶☀️
