STANLEY IS LOOKING FOR HIS FUR-EVER HOME!
Stanley is a lovely nearly two-year-old boy who just can’t seem to catch a break. He was never guided in the right direction or given boundaries when a puppy and was attacked by another dog after which the owner found him dog reactive and nervous. However, on a single walk, the owner’s dog trainer thought him to be confident.
Since coming into our kennels, he has gradually come out of himself. He is easily over-excited due to the kennel environment, but calmer when taken out for his walk. He walks well with his dogmatic. He does not react to other dogs in their kennels as he walks past them.
He is a happy boy with lots of potential and needs someone who is prepared to spend quality time with him to teach him social boundaries and acceptable behaviour, and to give his life the enrichment he deserves. He responds well to training and is quick and eager to learn.
The Trust had him assessed by a qualified behaviourist who did not have concerns about his behaviour but states that he needs a lot of time spent on training and teaching acceptable behaviours.
We are desperately seeking an understanding adopter, or even a fosterer who is prepared to train him, because he is bored and has no stimulation in this environment and desperately needs a new home. At present we would suggest he should be an only dog.

Only TWO Hours to go to our first ever RRWT ONLINE Christmas Get-together! Hurrah!! Mr Watts and I are busy putting up the last bits of tinsel and finding our Santa hats! Then we'll be popping the prosecco and going on Zoom at 5.30pm to test everything out, so if you're new to Zoom or just want to make sure that your camera, sound and all are all working perfectly, then please do feel free to come anytime after 5.30pm and we'll be there to help you feel sorted and comfy before we kick off at 6pm with the party agenda

Now then things you might want to bring...

1) party drinks - whatever takes your festive fancy!

2) Party snacks - but watch out for the RRs off-camera!!

3) Party garb - Christmas jumpers, Santa hats, tinsel, bauble earrings etc - are all most welcome, in fact, there may even be a prize for the best!!
4) Pen & Paper - there will be a fun Quiz during the evening and you'll want to get your answers down!!

5) All Ridgebacks and Honary Ridgebacks - this party is for them too! Plus see points 2 & 3 for them too!

6) A sense of fun, spontaneity and have a go-ity! We'll be making a lot of this up as we go along!!

If anyone is going to the Midlands and Northern RR Club show on Saturday, 11th November, Catherine Davis and Elena Jeffery will be there selling our 2024 RRWT Calendar at a special show price of £12.50 (due to no postage costs being involved). They will also have some packs of Christmas cards (special price of a pack of six for £7.50) and other merchandise.
Please note that we take CASH ONLY as we do not have a card machine so please bring along your notes and coins of the realm 😊

For those who want to buy one of our popular calendars, we are offering an advanced pre-order special price of....drum roll....
£10.00 each inc. p&p
This offer will stay in place until Friday 11th November
It will then revert to £15.00 inc P&P (£12 if collected).
They will start to be sent out within the next 14 days or so, so if you do go onto our online shop and pre-order, post office delivery willing, you should get your goods around mid to late November.

COVID worries ?
It looks increasingly possible that things may get a bit bumpy again as the virus stages a resurgence.
It is prudent to restate that The Rhodesian Ridgeback Welfare Trust will always be here and available if events create a circumstance under which your Ridgeback is in need of emergency accommodation. Just make sure those around you know where to find us.
Sorry for the serious tone but experience tells me that Ridgeback folk are, like their dogs, fairly robust and deal with the world as it is rather than how we would like it to be. .

About
THE FORMAL OBJECTIVES OF THE TRUST ARE
To advance the education of the public about the care and treatment of Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
To relieve the suffering and distress of Rhodesian Ridgebacks who are in need of care, maintenance, attention and to provide Rhodesian Ridgebacks with re-homing as necessary.
To provide or maintain kennels, rescue homes or animal hospitals or sanctuaries or other facilities for the reception and care of unwanted Rhodesian Ridgebacks together with such treatment as the Rhodesian Ridgebacks may require.
To promote responsible Rhodesian Ridgeback ownership and discouragement of the irresponsible breeding of Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
The bulk of our work is, of course, finding new homes for pure-bred Ridgebacks which, for a variety of reasons, are unable to remain with their owners.
Over the years, those of us involved in the Trust have developed procedures which, with careful home-checking and dog assessment, aim to place each individual dog in an appropriate home for the rest of its life.
The Trust is supported in its work by volunteers throughout the country who assess dogs, check homes, and help with transport, emergency kenneling or fostering.
Our debt to these generous, good-hearted people is incalculable and we could not function without them.
