Newest flock members Elsa and Anna exploring the garden.
Hooky the cockerel is less than impressed by the new little interlopers, but they are faster than him so still get the sweetcorn and worms.
Some of the flock having a preen and generally winding down at the end of the day.
Nearly bed time for the chooks.
Molly and her two chicks hoovering up the sweetcorn.
Four more babies for Madge and Harriet. Molly has two as well hatched this morning who we will see soon!
Hooky having a bit of a crow.
First time outside for the little ones.
New babies
Polly’s newly hatched little ones just a few days old and hungry!
These lovely chocolate chicks are seven weeks old now, hanging out in the greenhouse until they are old enough to meet the rest of the flock. Got them as eggs for hatching to add a bit of colour variety, and it’s been an interesting experience hand raising them with incubator then brooder, as none of the girls were broody at the right time to sit them, but they are doing well as you can see.
Just realised it’s been ages since the last post. Here’s a tiny film of a pair of chocolate coloured babies brewing under a brooder. None of the girls were broody at the right time, so I’ve had to go high tech with these, but the new little ones wil be out and about as soon as allowed. Plus there are a couple of Wyandotte bantams to come which I am rehoming due to lack of space in their previous home. It will be fun to watch them all playing out once they can!
