I’ve been told about the extent of the flooding here but this is the first time I’m experiencing it first hand. A combination of many things including the ever expanding house building for humans covering ground, that would normally act to soak in the water, with concrete - forcing it to build up in the areas that are for now untouched. It’s not going to get any better if this continues, which it will… O well, just have to do what you can with what you’ve got.. 💚

This is a process of learning through experimentation and experience. I’m trying to move away from the commercial animal feeds full of soya from god know where, as well as bulking agents, oils and many more hidden nasties. These oats are UK grown, and cheaper than the pig nuts. They do need grinding and soaking to help with digestion but so far they seem a winner. I will keep going with looking for other food sources - to give them as much variation and nutrient spectrum as I can 💚🐷💚

Satisfaction at a sanctuary is when you discover something that makes life just a little bit better for the animals in your care. So much of who they are is taken away from them in the human food chain. They are so much more complex, intelligent and sensitive than that system can ever offer them 💚🐑💚

We have received so much love and generosity since I started a fundraiser to cover the cost of a desperately needed two wheeled wheel barrow. It's been overwhelming to experience the support for our little haven of peace and safety for these beautiful, intelligent and sensitive beings known as farm animals. We have now increased the target to include some other desperately needed items including some concrete slabs to help keep the pigs feet and legs healthy through the winter and their pens clean and dry plus the feed costs to take us up until Christmas which includes nuts for the sheep and pigs as well as hay and straw for all including the cows.

Deeply grateful to anyone who can help us a little or a lot xx

Little update… finally I’ve moved onto the sanctuary - the piggies, the cows and sheep that are in the barn are living just 30m away from my caravan, my cat Jack is already completely happy and at home (I was most worried about him). It’s been quite stressful as always with moving home but I’m already feeling a lot more settled.

Bella has come such a long way. She was very anxious when she arrived - her friend Mable is the dominant of the two and Bella was always stressing over food and never relaxing… I’ve worked at making sure they don’t have to compete for food, along with just being present with some gentle energy - now she comes over and plonks herself down for bellow rubs - the snoring starts literally after 5 seconds 😆💚🐷💚

We were super lucky to spend some time with Mark and the residents of Amberwood Animals sanctuary recently, and we really loved it there, the calm and loving atmosphere of the whole sanctuary and the clear passion Mark has for creating space in the world for animals to be safe and respected. It really is a major perk, getting a glimpse into the incredible worlds others have created with their hard work and dedication. Please give them a follow!

Here’s a little clip of some moments from our very first zoom gathering for Patrons of the sanctuary. It was a beautiful time we had together and everyone shared something to contribute to the experience. As I am attempting to offer a safe space for people to talk I have only included myself speaking in this clip. There is a 23 min recorded version of the session on our Patreon page so please support us by signing up there - link in bio. This will also mean you will be able to take part in future gatherings which are planned to take place every two weeks for an update on the day to day of the sanctuary plus a space to share more generally in support of a collective desire for a kinder world for animals - the next gathering will be Thursday 24th August 7.15pm Uk time 💚🐷🐑🐄💚

Both Poo and Piglet are the sweetest of beings.. whenever they are stressed I can see in their eyes that they are trying to be calm and are asking me for comfort, just like a human child who does not understand the feelings they are experiencing. I realise that part of my commitment and responsibility to them is to be as a parent.

I believe not seeing them fully, truly and deeply as the whole beings they are, as we are, is damaging to ourselves as much as it is cruel to them.

So grateful to have been given a grant to buy some equipment to help care for the sheep. This foot bath will hopefully help get on top of the foot rot problem that has been causing everyone problems over the last year.

They were a bit cautious this first time but hopefully they will get used to it over the weeks ahead as I have to put them through it every 2 weeks for the time being.

Hello friends,

Im going to host a gathering on zoom next Wednesday 9th august at 7.15pm Uk time to share an update about the Animals here. But also to offer space to talk about the challenges people are experiencing living as a vegan in a non vegan world. I’ve been so inspired by conversations I’ve had during last weekends vegan campout and messages received on here since and I wanted to offer this space to shine light on the issues people are facing.

The link to the gathering will be available on our Patreon page (link in bio) and will require becoming a patron Member for which there are various levels that all come with the same benefits. The memberships are a massive support to us financially but I’m also hoping that the session will offer individuals value beyond this.

The session will be recorded and shared on Patreon for anyone who cannot make it and would like to watch it at a convenient time.

This is a bit of an experiment and if it proves useful then I’d be happy to hold regular sessions in support of the community.

You do not have to be a Vegan to attend, anyone interested is welcome. A space to share to listen and to hopefully help us all negotiate the many difficult challenges faced by people who desire a kinder world for all.. please DM me if you have any questions 💚🌱🌈
