Meet Luna and Arnie. Luna is exceptionally shy and spends her time hiding but is always keeping a close eye on me. Arnie is the complete opposite and loves all the attention. He happily soaks up all the attention for both of them 🥰🥰

As part of one of my jobs this week we have been looking after ducks and chickens (also quails and budgies but I don’t have any photos of them). The kids have been helping me and they loved collecting the eggs from the chickens every day 😊🐓🥚

A note for all pet owners: New laws have been published this week now making it a criminal offence (with possible jail time) for your vet to advise you to purchase human medications for your pets. Please remember it is not your vets fault that the veterinary alternatives are more expensive and it’s not your vets fault they can’t advise you to purchase the cheaper human equivalent.

New laws have been published this week for vets in the U.K. and how they prescribe medications

Much of it is what we do already but if you are in the profession I can highly recommend reading this blog from Vet Help Direct which sets out the changes very clearly.

If you are a pet owner, the most important thing to note is that it will now become a criminal offence, potentially punishable by jail time, if a vet advises you to purchase human medication for your animals.

There is often some heated debate over vets prescribing, or dispensing prescriptions for, human medications and the cost difference between them and the over-the-counter versions, but it is absolutely vital to understand that we have to do it this way to remain within the law and the ensure your pet receives a safe, effective dose and receives exactly the right type of treatment.

I appreciate it can be frustrating but please don’t blame your local vet!
