Mara was with us on work experience the past two weeks and she was tasked with the cats photographs… it’s not as easy trying to get all cats to look at the camera 📸 😂
But she did a brilliant job 🥰

IMPORTANT MESSAGE ‼️please share far and wide 🐈‍⬛

We are getting tagged in lots of social media posts about stray cats needing urgent medical attention. Unfortunately due to a number of factors cat rescue has become very challenging and space is often an issue (not only for us but for other rescues too). If you are concerned about a stray cat please take it to a vet to check for a microchip or contact us and one of volunteers will check a microchip for you. If the cat is unchipped we may be in a position to neuter it but it may need to be returned until space becomes available. At the moment we have 5 stray cats on our waiting list. We know this is not what people want to hear but our capacity is limited and we are also dealing with pregnant cats, kittens that have not been well socialised and cats whose owners can no longer keep them. So if you see a stray cat don’t wait until its health deteriorates to seek help. Although some cats appear well equipped to a life on the streets it does take it’s toll on them.

* in the first photo you can see the difference grooming makes. His right side has been groomed (not fully) and his left side has not. The undercoat gives the coat a scruffy fluffy look. It’s so much smoother and calmer once groomed.

We are pleased to say Carol is back home and taking things easy. Thank you all for her well wishes 🥰
She feels a lot better and is of course very happy to be back in her own bed.

Introducing Ottie, Nelly & Frosty the giant rabbits 🐰
Our giant bunny trio have joined the chickens in the quadrangle to entertain the cats.
They are doing such a good job we are looking at moving our other rabbits so they can be visible from the other side of the cattery.
One of the biggest worries owners have is their cats being bored in a cattery pen…. Not at Portway 🐓 🐇
