LATEST CUSTOM ORDERS

Apologies for being so quiet lately! What with work, being ill and these dark winter nights I’ve not had lots of time…certainly winter now isn’t it!!

I wanted to share some of my latest keyring orders with you all ☺️ Horses are definitely proving popular and I’m slowly improving! Keyrings are still currently £3.50, however with so many orders coming through and postage costs, I’m currently working at a loss. From the 1st December keyrings will be £5* on Etsy and £4 directly.

*prices may vary dependant on what you’d like me to make and how much clay is required.

I’ll also be launching some exciting new treats and flavours this weekend, just in time to get your pet the perfect Christmas treat!

I am very excited to announce that Spikes Delights is expanding and getting creative!

Handmade head bands!
With the help of my talented Grandma, I will be offering head bands with more designs to come or you can request a fabric! I love wearing these and we can make them smaller for children too ☺️

Customisable Horse Shoe!
These can be made from your own horses shoe or I can provide one (limited quantity) with a hanging replica of your horse 🐴
All shoes will be lightly sanded and sealed to prevent rusting and wear and then you can choose if/what you’d like put on the shoe! I will be hanging Spikes on his stable door today 🥰

I will soon be advertising these on my Etsy shop or get in touch for more details!

To celebrate this launch I’ll be running another competition shortly so watch this space!

Smiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile! 😆 Kimi received a gps tracker from his granny which means he’s been able to enjoy walks OFF THE LEAD 😱 If you’re aware of Shiba Inus or Kimi you’ll know he’s rarely allowed off the lead but thanks to this I can see where he is when he wanders off or escapes on the farm and retrieve him if he goes too far. This has made for a much happier doggo and he’s been such a good boy. Have you got a reason for smiling today?

It was a wet but good afternoon at Stevenstone Dog Show today! Even persuades Kimi to get out the truck and enter a class. He got 3rd in Poshest Dog…not sure how 😂🐶

Today we had the vet out to get an update on Spikes tendons. He was sedated for it so we could clip his legs off and because he doesn’t know how to stay still.
He’s had 8 months of rest with me now and feedback from the vet was very uplifting. Brian said he’s a completely different horse and that everything I’ve done so far is correct and in Spikes best interest for a full recovery. This means a lot as when I first brought Spike home I was told I was doing everything wrong.

Unfortunately, his scans still show a lot of damage. The heat and swelling has reduced significantly, but he’s a long way off. Bear in mind he was at 40% damage originally.

10-15% - Superficial injury
15-25% - pretty bad injury
25% or more - Yeh you’re pretty buggered.

So I can’t say I’m surprised. We’ll have to keep on keeping on and will review again in winter. I’m in no rush with Spike and it’s important he’s fully healed before bringing him back into any work otherwise the injury will just reoccur.

He was a very good boy though so once he perked back up he had a few of his favourite minty treats 🐴❤️

Who is Spike?
I figured it was about time I introduced you all to the reason behind Spike’s Delights!

I rescued Spike last November from a racing yard. He’d torn both front tendons and was due a bullet but was still being worked. I decided to take him home and leave the job the same day.
The initial plan was to save him and find someone that could take him on, but a few days after bringing him home, I suffered a personal loss and he coliced. I’ve always found it hard to believe in people having such bonds with animals but I think we both knew we were the only thing pulling each other through. I’d struggle out of bed each morning and he’d whinny at me when I arrived, he’d play around in the stable with me and nibble. He just lit me up every time I saw him.

Now, as rewarding as owning Spike has been, it’s certainly not been cheap. After his emergency visit for the colic, scans on his legs, finding the right feeds to build him up, box rest etc etc it all adds up and some decisions and sacrifices had to be made.

Therefore, I decided to start up this little business in his aid. All profits from Spike’s Delights go towards his care and rehabilitation. So every purchase you make is making a real difference for him and we both thank you!

I will post updates of his journey as we go but if anyone would like more info, please feel free to pop me a message.

How cute is Buddy with his treats?! 😍🥺Colleen wanted a treat that was going to be healthy and suitable for her little fur baby, so I recommended my Sweet Potato and Bacon treats. They’re made with natural, yummy ingredients and because of the sweet potato, are naturally quite soft and gentle on those little needle teeth.
I’m so glad you like them Buddy! Hopefully they’ll help with your training….if you’re willing to give them back to your mum 😂🐶
