Rapport Show Dog Training

Happy Monday everyone!
You will have noticed there has been a lack of training dates posted for April. Having given this (busy!) month a lot of consideration, I have decided that training won’t be starting back again until May.
My fantastic new role at Agria Pet Insurance needs my full attention at the moment, and this - combined with our current litter of Border Terrier puppies, lambing of the Annavale & Biggarburn Shetland Sheep, and Gavin’s shoulder operation - mean time is very precious this month…and that’s before we even think about training our own new youngsters, in between judging appointments, breed seminars, and shows!
I’m really looking forward to being back next month, and thank you all for your patience and understanding at this chaotic time!

We are looking forward to welcoming a lot of you to this weekend's social training day on Sunday at Broughton. Groups start at 10am or 12.30pm. Details have been sent to those who haven't been before, giving you all directions to the hall.

We are looking forward to a busy and fun day of training! Please bring with you any refreshments you need, treats for your dog, but be aware there is no cage space available in the hall for dogs - those bringing two dogs will have to work them from their cars.

For those who have paid the £10 deposit already, please remember to bring the remaining balance of £15 with you on the day (or pay by BACS/PayPal on the day).

It’s an exciting time folks - Crufts passes have landed!
The fabulous team at FDS - Fosse Data Systems Ltd. have issued emails to everyone who has entered online to say that Crufts passes can now be printed.
Remember to print these and take them to the show, and have them to hand when you get to the entrance doors for quick and easy access to the show with your dogs. It is essential they are PRINTED as electronic copies won’t be accepted at the NEC.

Thank you to everyone who came along to training this morning, coping with the last minute changes in arrangements owing to the heating failure in the hall.
The larger group training worked so well - 17 dogs and handlers all working perfectly in harmony with each other 👌🏼👌🏼
Well done to everyone on all your achievements today - no matter how large or small, every step forward is progress 🌟 🤩

Each day at Crufts our team are asked to put on two half-hour displays of ringcraft to show how fun and enjoyable the hobby is, and to encourage more people to take part. We need handlers of all abilities and dogs of all ages (six months plus) to volunteer to take part, and show the public what it's all about!

The demonstrations take place in either morning (from 9am) or afternoon (before 4pm); handlers and dogs arrive around at least fifteen minutes before the scheduled demonstration time and that they hang around for a short time afterwards. In total, these demonstrations shouldn't take more than an hour out of your day.

**UPDATE 08/02: We have received an overwhelming response so far and are over subscribed for each day - THANK YOU EVERYONE! Once again, a very big thank you to all those who have volunteered, it is hugely appreciated.

UPDATES on training availability in the lead up to Crufts...

🐾 One to One training - FULLY BOOKED until March.

🐾 Small group training, Wednesday evening - limited places available 17 & 31 January and 7 & 14 February only.

🐾 Social group training, Saturday or Sunday (a more intensive training experience ideal for shy/nervous dogs and for really perfecting your handling skills) - 10 & 25 February only.

The Kennel Club recently announced some excellent new rules changes to the show (F) regulations, taking effect from 01/01/24. All judges and secretaries should be aware of these, and RDSJ candidates should also take note of these changes.

These updates include:
🐾 new baby puppy classes for breed shows
🐾 judges must send their critiques to the dog paper OR upload them to the KC critique website
🐾 championship show group/puppy group judges can now also judge breeds within that group on the same day
🐾 stewards may now fill in exhibit names on CC/RCC/BoS/RBoS cards if the judge permits
