Is 2025 the year that you get chickens or add more to those you have 🩷

Have you always fancied getting chickens, but not quite got round to it? Well now is your chance.

These ladies will be around 72 weeks old and will be no longer viable for the farmer.

They generally go into their moult at around this age, where all their energy is usually directed to growing and replenishing new feathers and not laying eggs. This means they stop or significantly reduce laying, and for girls that lay every day, this is significant to the farmer.

Traditionally these girls would be sold for pence to the meat industry, who would slaughter them and because there's not much on them as they are bred for their laying capabilities, not how big they grow - they usually end up in cheap ready meals, pies, baby food and reconstituted cold meats or dog food.

Once their feathers are replenished, they usually (although no guarantee) have plenty of egg laying left in them and make amazing pets 🩷

UPDATE: these hens now have a home, but I do have a few ex commercial girls here still looking for a home 🥰

Due to the owner’s change in circumstances, we have 8 pretty little hens looking for a new coop.
No idea on breeds but two white (not leghorns), two cream, two gold, one black and one ginger.
Ideally they would like to go as a family 🥰

Yesterday our heros ventured out in the awful weather committed to collect the hens. Due to the storm some rehomers have had to postpone their collections until their coops are fixed 😢

We are still urgently appealing for homes for our 1400 hens who are currently without a home 😭

A brilliant morning in Staffordshire today, 1800 lovely hens starting the first day of the rest of their lives ❤️

Our farm team worked really hard and are all off the farm early, plenty of time for breakfast :)

We've extra hens going to Anglesey, Rhyl, Selby, Biggin Hill and Watton, so please get in touch if you'd like to collect today.
