An unusual visitor at our Hartlepool branch… this swan signet was brought in by a member of the public. During dark nights swans can often get confused between a wet road and a pond/lake. This little guy made that mistake. He suffered no injuries, he was health checked then fed and watered by one of our nurses Kim… he then went off to Whitby wildlife to continue his recovery before being released.

FUN FACT: Ducks, wildfowl and swans need to be fed in water to aid their digestion. They will graze grass but mainly eat in water. Bread is not appropriate for any of our avian friends as it can swell within their stomach and cause issues!!

Do you know how many teeth dogs are meant to have? That's a lot of brushing! 🪥
As part of your pet's health check we try to examine their teeth. Unfortunately not all of our patients are keen on it, but these are Delilah's teeth, a 4 year old dog. As you can see from the pictures she had quite a lot of tartar build up and some gingivitis (inflammation of the gums). A scale and polish under anaesthetic should clear this up 😁 She's heading home tonight and has plans to start her daily teeth brushing routine tomorrow! She will be back for a check up in 6 months to see how it's going! 🐾
