We’re delighted to welcome our new veterinary assistant, Gina to the team!

Gina is a qualified equine physiotherapist with a wealth of experience working with top-level dressage horses. Her deep understanding of equine movement and performance makes her an invaluable addition to our practice.

In addition to her professional expertise, Gina is a passionate and accomplished dressage rider, which gives her a unique perspective on the needs of both horse and rider.

We’re thrilled to have her join us and look forward to the knowledge and care she’ll bring to our clients and their horses.

The pre-purchase exam (PPE or vetting) is a thorough clinical examination of the horse on behalf of the prospective buyer to assess veterinary factors which may affect the horse’s suitability for its intended purpose.

At EVP we follow the standardised 5-stage procedure following outlines from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and BEVA. The vetting provides an assessment of the horse at the time of the examination to help the potential purchaser make an informed decision on the purchase. It is not a guarantee of the horse’s suitability for its intended purpose nor a safeguard against future ailments or injuries.

Thinking of purchasing a horse? Ensure you start with expert vetting. ✅

🎬 ITV Meridian

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to discuss Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, a treatment for horses living with musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis. 🏇✨

PRP harnesses the horse’s own platelets to promote healing and reduce inflammation. When injected into damaged tissues, these platelets release essential growth factors that accelerate recovery and improve mobility.

A huge step forward in equine rehabilitation!

Exciting opportunity for a new equine Veterinary Assistant! 👇🏻

* Are you passionate about horses and looking for a new role working with an internationally respected equine vet?
* Are you reliable and enthusiastic about equine health?
* Do you have experience handling horses and a full, clean UK driving licence?
* Do you believe in the highest level of customer service?
If the answer to these questions is yes, we would love to hear from you.

We are an independent equine practice based in West Sussex looking for a new member to join our growing team. The role will initially be on a temporary basis with the potential to become permanent. You will be working alongside our international lead vet at client calls as well as assisting the clinic team.

If you think this is the role for you, please send your current CV along with a short covering letter detailing why you feel you are the right person to Amie at [email protected]
Due to the location of the clinic, you will need to have your own transport and due to insurance restrictions, we are sadly currently unable to consider applicants under the age of 25.

Herbie has been with us for some time as he has, like many horses, some low level lameness issues both behind and in front. Our main focus recently has been to address his navicular/coffin joint problems as he has intermittent lameness from these joints. We are very careful with the work we do, and we avoid lots of trotting on the roads or hard ground as this will inevitably aggravate these conditions. Herbie goes on quiet hacks, and he enjoys his schooling which strengthens him and keeps him supple and helps him to use and strengthen his back well. He also benefits from good quality long-reining.

We are thrilled that after 3 PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatments for this lovely cob, he has achieved soundness and is working so much more comfortably. It is always good to find something that works for each horse so that progress can occur. These treatments have been administered at the centre by a company led by Janet Hadfield called Advanced Biologics Research and Moorcroft is very glad that we have found this option for some of our lame horses.

When horses have a lameness in front it is very important to ensure that all hind leg joints and the sacro-iliac joint are taken great care of as a weakness behind that is not treated, will increase the pressure and concussion on both front feet, negating the treatment given there with disappointing results. In other words, at the centre, we have to look at the whole horse to achieve good results.

Our excellent skilful Vet Vasco Lopez MRCVS Equine Veterinary Performance Ltd - UK has helped us with many problems here at the centre in Slinfold. We are very pleased to have his help.

If you would like to find out more about PRP treatments, we are running a free event -An Introduction to PRP Treatments on the 11 November 2023. You can book your place with this link:

The correct answer is b., sodium and chloride. They are two components of table salt but neither mineral is naturally abundant in your horse’s usual food sources.

Why should you care? Having a basic understanding of equine nutrition and being able to identify sources of essential vitamins and minerals in a horse’s diet is in the best interest of every horse owner. Dietary deficiencies and excesses can both cause health issues and affect performance, and this becomes even more important for the care and management of horses with disorders such as equine metabolic syndrome (EMS) and polysaccharide storage myopathy (PSSM).
