This is one of the worst case of resource guarding I have seen…this 10 month old dog has seriously bitten several times
The behaviour specialist that my client first worked was told to offer high rewards for resource guarding by a force free trainer, not changing the behaviour just rewarding to dog for doing… more absolute f@@king nonsense.
How will I be changing this behaviour? teaching the dog to out using an ecollar once Inhave conditioned him to the tool positively…yes it will be uncomfortable for him but better that than the dog to bite again and be euthasnised.
Another dog being trained correctly on the most responsible off lead tool you can use on your dog.
Here I call Thor away from what could have been a dangerous situation, calmly assertively, equally I could if he was to break away from lead with livestock which I will be working on next week and will record and post up.
Please don’t believe what your told by large organisations, charities about tools and ecollar as in lots of cases they would much rather kill than correct a dog 😔

My client has recently adopted Maple and after three days she started to bark and lundge at anyone other than family coming into the home. and would bark for hours at times.
Nearly every dog I see with these behaviours the owners have unintentionally given the dog way to much environmental responsibility in there home, alowing their dog to patrol and control.
*How could this been prevented*
Keeping your adopted dog or puppy on lead and attached to you for the first month or sometimes more.
Teach solid thresholds at front- back and internal dogs your dog should not be pushing past you at any doorways walking calmly behind you….
And teaching a solid place this can be on your dogs bed or in crate, you should be able to move around your home until you give permission to come off place..

Stanley now building his confidence more and more in different environments and not reacting… to put him in a down stay at the front of a cafe 4 weeks ago would not have been an option or possible… today he was calm and at times was sleeping with people, dogs and kids walking past him 👏🏼👏🏼
I’ve loved being part of this amazing dogs behaviour journey and to see the changes in him! and props to his owners for putting so much work in to get him to where he now is at home and on his walks 👏🏼

Do your homework before you even considering any breed of dog, week in week out I work with dogs that do not match the persons lifestyle or environment.

DON’T let your puppy or dog free roam. What we as humans see as “freedom” equals “territory” - territory to be patrolled and controlled - to a dog. This is how reactivity and barking start, because the dog does not feel safe. And with a puppy your toilet training will be way more successful 👍🏼

Always advocate for your dog, never feel that you have to let anyone put their hands on your dog, it’s a polite no thank you to start and then a NO if they do not listen… and say the classic oh he will be fine with me!!
